NO Currancy Conversion for Upgrades, Themes, and more
-
I want to know why when you go to buy a theme or even upgrade that it show a price in Dollars then when you switch to the country where your credit card is it switches to Euros for example yet there is no conversion. 99 US dollars is not the same as 99 Euros so preferably I would like to pay in US Dollars even though my Credit card is in Italy. Why should I pay more? This is something that should be fixed and many online companies are able to do the conversion. Thanks
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Sorry raincoaster but that does not help. It is WordPress that does not convert the amounts they use 79 us dollars for a theme then when I put in Italy since that is where my card is it says it is switching to Euros and the price becomes 79 euros. So WordPress does not convert it so really it should be 58 euros not 79 euros for that theme. WordPress is making 21 dollar difference so to speak just because I am using an overseas credit card.
-
Also I do not have the option to change the online buying price to put in the currency conversion rate change. So all in the hands of WordPress.

something is broken on the conversion or PayPal has decided to screw everyone – they system used to convert at a reasonable rate

Hi! I’ve just heard back from the team and unfortunately, I learned that the way we price our upgrades in Euros will not be changed any time soon. Our prices have to be adjusted higher due to the VAT imposed on all of our sales made in that currency. Sorry for not delivering better news!

The VAT is already figured into our prices, and although countries have different VAT rates, we take the average and work on that rate.
Also you might want to have that written there when the conversion is taking place
Providing the conversion would not be accurate as there are many other factors that come into play in pricing our products for different regions. Sorry about that!

Okay then why can I not keep it in US Dollars. Just because my credit card is from Italy does not mean I can not keep it in US Dollars? If I buy from Amazon.com for example you keep it in US Dollars to purchase as if you were physically there using an Italian Credit Card overseas. There is a conversion rate only by the bank on the card. I use wordpress.com not wordpress.it so the company is in the US.

Sorry about the inconvenience, but this is something that we cannot change at the moment. My apologies.

@firenzemom: you right.
I live in Spain and have bought several upgrades. All paid in dollars. And the renewals were also in dollars.
But when I bought an Theme recently, I had the same issue: 69 USD ≠ 69€ (obviously).My solution was very easy, chose the United States as a country and paid in dollars, 69 dollars.
@druesome: Conversion definitely doesn’t work.

The system automatically detects your card’s country of issue and switches to the appropriate currency. You may try galois’ tip on setting your country to United States, but I can’t offer any assurances that that would work.

I did and it worked: I bought Gridiculous Pro for 69.
Dollars.BTW, i love that theme. :)
