"No data received" error message

    When I am using Google Chrome, I frequently receive this error message:

    No data received
    Unable to load the webpage because the server sent no data.
    Here are some suggestions:
    Reload this webpage later.
    Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data.

    At first I thought this was just when I was clicking on links on my blog and my dashboard, but have since found it occurs when accessing other people’s blogs and pages on WordPress in general too. I have tried using Firefox and I get a similar message:

    The connection was reset
    The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
    The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
    If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network connection.
    If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

    I only have this issue with WordPress.com, and it is incredibly annoying. Can anyone tell me why it’s happening, and how to stop it?

    Thanks.

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    It seems that a lot of people are suffering this problem, I am one of them too for the last 3 days, and it’s getting very frustrating!

    @tillyjean
    Please allow me to be blunt. Chrome has a known issue which Chrome developers are aware of and they will provide a fix in the next version of Chrome. Use Firefox or Safari please.

    I clearly said that I’ve used Firefox too and got the same message.

    @fitchicksoon
    We don’t have any of your details.
    (1) How are connecting to the internet and to WordPress.com? The way you connect to the internet (mobile, satellite, DSL, dial-up) and to your blog, and how many proxy server jumps etc. it takes to connect can cause problems. There maybe be problems with your ISP and/or with the proxy servers. Also note that the main dashboard isn’t designed to work with touch devices through the tablet and smartphone browsers.

    (2) Exactly which browser and version of it are you using. If you don’t know click here to find out > http://whatsmyuseragent.com/

    (3) Are you using the https:// secure log-in? If not then please enable it

    @timethief – Many thanks for your reply.

    I have changed my settings to https and so far (fingers crossed!) it’s seems to be working better. I will keep you posted.

    In answer to your questions:

    #1 – Broadband ADSL and I am not on a server. – I am with TalkTalk, but my brother is having the same problem and he is with AOL, so I don’t think it’s an ISP issue. I use the dashboard through my laptop not phone/ipad etc.

    #2 – Google chrome v.19.0.1084.56
    Mozilla Firefox v.13
    IE v.9

    There is an issue between on of our third-party CDNs and Talk Talk. We are working with our CDN to resolve the issue, and you might want to try contacting your ISP too.

    Sorry for the trouble!

    Hooray! What great news. I suggested that in (3) above and I’m so happy to hear it worked for you. :)
