No descriptions & keywords in code
-
My blog is using Chronicle theme. Prior to WordPress I developed my blog with Front Page where I entered numerous Descriptions and Keywords into the code. Over time these entries generated thousands of hits via the search engines. I’ve had a Congressperson recently ask for the URL to one of my current articles, and the local newspaper just published another of my articles–which shows interest. Yet my blog is nowhere. I checked the code and all I found was the Title and the briefest description which gave absolutely nothing for search engines to grab onto. I’ve put a lot of work into texts and graphics, and I think it’s for naught. I’m 88years of age and generating a large Social Networking is not my generation’s thing. So my question to the Chronicle’s designer is can I rescue my efforts by inserting the proper descriptions and keywords into my code, and if so, how? Or has this whole enterprise been a disaster? Help will be appreciated.

Adding keywords to the meta content of your page is not a very effective way of improving your search results. Search engines will push you down in the rankings if they think you are stuffing keywords into your web pages to try to game the system.
A better option is to write excellent posts that contain the relevant key terms naturally. Have a look at the search engines support page. There are three links in the last paragraph which I would recommend reading to give you some tips on what to do next.

Thanks for your response, hallluke. Trouble is, I can’t think of more relevant titles than those featured in my blog–listed below–with hard hitting graphics to boot.
Business Has No Flag
Quid Pro Quo
2nd Amendment Scam
From Rome To Isis
Free Trade Globalization
Our Planet Earth
Can you check my blog and show me what I’m not doing? I’m lost. Thanks. -
Your titles sound pretty good to me.
One thing I did notice is that you are using too many tags. You won’t show up in the Reader if you have more than 15 combined tags and categories for each post so you’re missing out on potential traffic at the moment.
You should also aim to make your tags as concise as possible without being too vague and still reflecting the content of your post. Not many people will be looking for things like Preident carter says the U.S. is oligarchy, despite the typo, especially when your post only includes one sentence related to it.

I really appreciate your help. Want to think on this for a day or to; then get back to you. Thanks so much.
