No email notifications for new posts on blog I subscribed to follow

  Hi there. I signed up to receive email notifications of new postings made on a blog I wish to follow, polytheist.com. I did this via their website, just as I have with other blogs I follow. I have a WordPress reader account, and polytheist.com is just one of quite a few blogs I’ve signed up to follow. When I signed up, I received the standard email asking me to confirm my subscription, which I did, and then I received the email confirming that I was now signed up to follow the blog.

  I have never received any email notifications when there are new posts on this blog (despite there having been quite a few). I receive email notifications direct to my email inbox whenever any of the other blogs I follow have new postings. For some reason, despite my delivery settings for polytheist.com being the same as the other blogs I follow (set to receive daily), I don’t receive email notifications for it when there are new postings. I’ve contacted the blog directly, in case there’s a problem at their end, but they haven’t come back to me. Is there anything anyone can think of that I might do to sort this out?

  Hi there. The site at http://polytheist.com/ is not a WordPress.com site, so we can’t really help you with that. The email notification settings in the Reader only apply to blogs hosted at WordPress.com. You can add blogs hosted elsewhere to the Reader feed, but WordPress.com doesn’t send you email notifications for self-hosted blogs as it does for WordPress.com blogs as far as I know.

  Many self-hosted sited use a subscription widget of some kind so you can sign up for email notifications directly from that site. If this site does not have such a widget I don’t think you’ll be able to receive email notifications of new posts.

  Hi Kokkieh,

  thanks for coming back to me. I signed up directly via their site and got a confirmation email, but still nothing from them. So I added the address to my WordPress Reader, thinking that would help. I see now that it’s not a WordPress site, so understand why I’m not getting notifications from WordPress. Not to worry!

  You’re welcome :) The problem is most likely with whatever subscription service they use. I hope they get back to you on this.
