No email updates for older posts

Apologies for asking, as I cannot imagine this hasn’t been asked before, but searching didn’t show up an answer.
I created a blog which is more or less a public record of some health issues. I started this around 3 weeks ago. However I would like to add some posts from the past years.
I have found out how to pre-date those, disable twitter/facebook updates but how can I disable these being send out via email towards blog subscribers (email and wordpress users)?

Temporarily set your site to private at settings > privacy. Then publish the older posts that you do not want sent out to subscribers, and when you have them all published, return your site to the previous privacy setting.

Ok that would work, but as it’s about 50 or so posts do you know if it would work if I put them all in draft. Then turn privacy on, and publish, privacy off?
Otherwise it would be private for a couple hours and friends and family are checking “constantly” and don’t want to scare them.

Yes, get them all ready and saved as drafts and then set the site to private and you can publish them all at once.
As a matter of fact, you can filter the post list at posts > all posts and then use the bulk edit feature to publish them all at once with only a few mouse clicks.

You might want to bulk edit/publish them 10 or 20 at a time. I would not try and do 50 or 60 at once. I’m not sure if that could cause problems or not, but just to be on the safe side…

Thanks once again, didn’t really worked out as I send the posts via email (as that was the old way of updates) with publicize off in the tags.
When changing all from draft to published whilst in private mode twitter and FB got flooded. So some deleting to do there. But it worked for the first batch. Second batch just disconnected FB/Twitter.
Now up for batches 3-x.

Hmmm, it shouldn’t have sent to twitter/FB while set to private. I think that is something staff need to look into.

It should, and I’ll put in for than enhancement, but currently users do need to disable Publicize first, even if the site is set to Private.
