No empty line between blocks, but a <div></div>
-
Editing the KUBRICK presentation … this problem started a few days ago. Everytime I want to create an EMPTY LINE between 2 textblocks, or a textblock + a picture (using the “Enter” key), the programme now writes: <div></div>. Result is of course NOTHING, as there is nothing in between the “division”-brackets, so I get no empty line.
Well, I can put SOMETHING in between the brackets, like–, and then go colour this sign white (#FFFFFF) … then it LOOKS like there is an empty line.
But that is a bit stupid … (I just added -signs to my No. 991 “Epirus-Zagoria” page to demonstrate it.)Does anybody know if there were any changes made to the Kubrick presentation? And happy holidays from Germany! (Hey, and I’m dumb with HTM and even worse with styles, sorry!)

That is strange. When you say “editing the Kubrick presentation” do you mean the CSS?
What browser/version are you using?
-
No no, I just USE the Kubrick presentation for my theopedia-pages, I’m not editing the presentation itself! (Hope I understood what you meant!)
I use the very latest version of Firefox (hey, that was updated 20.12.2007 …. oh well, that was just 5 days ago … maybe it is THEIR problem???)

Well, it works, but not completely. I replaced the tags <div>-</div> that created an empty line with
, OK, now I get an empty line.
Good!
But now every other text line that I ended with the “enter”-key just to start a new line, starts with a <div> and ends with a </div>. (That list Zagoria 01 to Zagoria 13).
Oh well …
AND I cannot START the page with a <br/> to create the SPACE that used to be between the headline and the very first line of text. AND adding that <br/> into the page deletes every other <br/> on the pages.
???
By the way, that no-space-from-the-headline-stuff looks pretty ugly too, comparing it to the older typ of pages …

Strange, <br/> is OK, but with an blank between br and /, it isn’t showing up … I think that is weird!
-
Make sure there is a space between the / and the ending >. And no, you cannot start a post or page with a break tag as far as I know. I’m going to tag this “modlook” since I cannot see any reason at all that the line breaks should be showing up as a div.
-
-
Yes, it should be a self-closing break tag
<br />
and if that does not work then
may work. However, I do recall that div tags were being stripped out by the programming https://en.forums.wordpress.com/search.php?q=div+tagI find what works best for me is to switch the visual rich text editor off on the Your Profile page and do my formating in the standard editor.
-
I was talking about THIS forums page: HERE if I write <br/> in my response, that is saved, you can read it, but if I add a space between br and /, wordpress deletes it!
I used the tag just as you suggested while changing my page, WITH that space.
But talking about starting a page … there ALWAYS was a space between the headline of a page and the first line. Now it isn’t anymore …
THeo -
Ah, OK yes it will strip it out unless you put it between backticks. I got you now.
I just changed my test blog to Kubrick and did a test post and don’t have the div tags between lines.
-
On the forum code must be placed between backticks to display. The backtick key is to the left of the number 1 in lower case under the ~ on my keyboard. If you don’t use it at the beginning and end of the code it will be stripped out by the programming. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=17072
There will always be a a space between the titles of your posts and the first line of the text. This is where the adsense ads that wordpress.com occasionally runs on our blogs are in part placed. The other spot they are placed is at the end of your posts. Perhaps this is part of your problem or perhaps not.

Hi timethief, I just added that … using it as a FIRST line ( = which creates a “blank”?). Those 6 types now show up (as written) as first line (instead of an empty line), and it immediately KILLED all the break tags on the page!
Theo
This now starts to kill more time than I have today, maybe I will just go on using the <div>white letter<div/>, and we wait till support turns up after the holidays!
Thank you both anyway! Theo -

is missing from my response. This should go into the “weird forum discussions” list!
