No Flash/media etc… does this include Reverbation?

  Was hoping to add my husbands Reverbnation widget player via html onto a page, but only the bottom clickable bar will show and not the player itself.
  Through reading through some of the posts, I am guessing that this is not allowed? (blogs http://terraspirit.wordpress.com and http://fvpf.wordpress.com)

  If the stuff you’re putting into the text widget is getting stripped out, that means it’s not allowed code. I’m not familiar with that particular code, but if it has the word Flash, Javascript, or swf in it that’s what’s going on.

  I’ve requested that Reverbnation widgets be allowed, but have received no response. I’d love to get my own band’s RN widget onto our WordPress blog. It’s a legit site, so I’m not sure why it would pose a security risk.

  You aren’t going to get a response the widget contains javascript. The FAQ is quite clear on this: none allowed.

  I read the FAQ and understood what was said about javascript quite well. And it is not true that none is allowed. Javascripts from “trusted” partners such as youtube and google video are allowed (so says the FAQ: http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/05/07/javascript-can-i-use-that-on-my-blog/). What I’ve requested is that Reverbnation be made a trusted partner, but still have received no response.

  Well, that’s not what you said in your initial response. It’s a totally different ballgame to be a trusted partner than to simply include a widget that includes javascript.

  Also – you may want to have Reverbnation contact wordpress.COM directly, unless you own the company.

  Yes, that was cryptic :)
  When WordPress.com trusts a javascript-based or flash-based service, it gives it a shortcode. Hence there’s a shortcode for youtube, and so on. If reverbnation was made available here, it would probably be via a new shortcode.

  Just to follow up with the latest info: I talked to the guys at ReverbNation who tell me they have been trying to get on the trusted list with WP for a while but have had no luck–and they don’t seem to know why. Without a response from WP I can only assume there is an unaddressed security issue or some sort of backlog in evaluating widget service providers like RN …. Anyone know?

  Well, it IS a very small staff and a very, very long list of requested features.
