no home / front page template. how do i fix that / get it back?

hi, i have lost the original front home template. i lost it ages back somehow/ or deleted it by accident, and i dont know how to get it back. i’m only getting back to learning how to do this now, and was looking at a very helpful video on youtube the last two days.
i changed the theme to ‘responsive’. i never had the front template for the ‘responsive’ theme.
if i change the theme back to twenty twelve, i get page not found.
can you advise me how to get the home page reinstated.
i have the home page at moment as the new posts page, and if i change it to a static page it doesnt help bring it back. my website is joanwalsh.wordpress.com thanks a mil, joan
