No image when sharing blog on Facebook
-
How do I set a default meta data image to my blog? Something that shows up with the link on Facebook when there is no image to be found, or when I’m sharing the main blog roll page. Is there a way to set this with the free plan on WP.com? I tried creating a page with an image that has no navigation to it, that didn’t work. Everything I’ve googled talks about changing something in the Theme’s .php file, which I don’t have access to. Is there a setting somewhere that I can’t find? I checked the free plugin section and the sharing section. I’m at a loss… My theme is Baskerville. I want to share the front ‘page’ because I like the magazine-like design, and that is what I want people to see when I share the main website as compared to just sharing a blog article…
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I just want to add to this, in case anyone else has a similar problem. This also answers the problem with anyone trying to set an og:image for Facebook and other social media, also known as Open Graph image, which Facebook uses when a feature image is not found. I spent all day trying to figure this out, it would have been so much easier if the explanation was more clear in the dashboard on WP.
When there is no image, or your trying to share the first page of a blog site, the default image that FB will fall back on is the FAVICON or BLOG ICON image. The explanation next to this setting–found in General settings– only says that this will be your icon around WordPress, it doesn’t explain that other social media sites will default to this too. It would have been so simple with that very easy addition. I hope this helps anyone with the same problem.
