Hi innerfortune,
Hi johnsonnandu,
It appears that your question is related to a self-hosted WordPress blog.
Hopefully, you can reach the community of WordPress.org users on WordPress.org support forums (http://wordpress.org/support/) where you will certainly find an answer to your question.
Don’t forget to search through the forums before posting your question, there is a good chance your reply is already there waiting for you!
Happy blogging!

Hi there – Since the WordPress.com Desktop app allows both WPcom and WP self-hosted sites users to connect to their sites, I’ve tagged this for Staff assistance.
-
While we are waiting for Staff, you do need to have Jetpack installed and connected to a WordPress.com account and if I remember correctly there is a link on the Desktop app sign-in page about connecting a self-hosted WP install… (Don’t have it installed on my current computer so can’t check that out directly.)

Hi innerfortune,
If you have installed Jetpack on your self-hosted blog and connected it to your WordPress.com account, your blog will automatically appear in the WordPress desktop app, just like it does in https://wordpress.com.

I came here looking for more detailed help on this issue … I have several self-hosted WP sites (Jetpack is installed) and one WP.com blog. My self-hosted sites are under one login, the blog uses a different login. So, I have two different sets of login info.
Keeping track of everything is complex … I am hoping the desktop app can do that for me.
I’d like to be able to access all my WordPress sites through the desktop app. Does anyone know if that’s possible?

As several people have mentioned, you will need to install the Jetpack plugin on your self-hosted site and connect it to your WordPress.com account. Specifically, you will need to activate the Manage feature to have your site appear in the app/My Sites site picker.

You do remember correctly. Clicking that option will open your browser at the Jetpack Manage page I linked above :)

With the app, the same as with the browser interface, it’s only possible to be logged in to one username account at a time.
I’d suggest one of these workarounds:
1) Add your account that owns the self-hosted sites as a user on your WordPress.com blog. Then your WordPress.com site should appear on the My Sites list of the account with the self-hosted sites. When writing a post you will be able to select which username is shown as author, but likes and replies to comments will be as the user you are logged in as.
https://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-users/2) Transfer your WordPress.com site to the same account that owns the self-hosted sites. Then one username account will own all the blogs, so you will also be able to manage upgrades on the WordPress.com site from that same account.

Thanks for your answer.
The reason I use two logins is because I need my .com blog to be anonymous, and difficult to link back to my real self. [No evil intent, just a matter of being able to speak freely.] So your second solution won’t work at all.
However, #1 might do the trick … I’ll have to try it and see.
By the way … I’m a professional WordPress designer. An app like this that allows multiple logins would be a fantastic tool for helping me managing my clients’ sites. Could you please mention this to the design team?

Wow! Thank you folks so much. I understand now. -

While I can understand why this could be useful, the app works with your WordPress.com login, and as we don’t allow multiple logins on WordPress.com for security reasons, I think it’s unlikely that it would be allowed for the app either. But thanks for the suggestion.
@justjennifer
That’s a very good idea, thanks.
