No Longer Can Create Thumbnail image for uploaded videos.
-
I think you guys have done some more tinkering with the system again. I have never had a problem creating a thumbnail image for uploaded videos until today. Now when I try, the screen just says “uploading” and never does anything else. I just have to back out of page and live with whatever default image is assigned to my video.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Still waiting for support on this issue. Maybe most other people don’t upload their own videos and create custom thumbnail images, but the feature no longer works.

Wow wordpress support just completely ignored this issue. I’m having the same problem. Really annoying
-
Thanks for someone else acknowledging the issue. It is very frustrating when WordPress does things I suppose to add functionality somewhere else and then they don’t properly test the full effects of their actions or even respond to complaints. I know I am still having the problem described above … that I can no longer create custom thumbnails through VideoPress for uploaded videos (mp4 files).

No worries, I’ve been pulling my hair out – Not sure why WordPress haven’t responded to this. I’ve tried it on 4 computers (1 mac) and all have the same issue.
I pay for a product that’s meant to be part of the premium section and it doesn’t work. I’ve had to end up embedding via Vimeo, as the randomly generated thumbnail from videopress was ridiculous.
I hope wordpress support respond to this

I thought about the “premium” part. Not getting much for the extra money we pay.
I primarily use Microsoft Explorer to get the “uploading” message that never ends. Switching to Firefox, I don’t even get that far, as the “preview and insert” mode no longer will even play the video.

Replying here because I was made aware of this thread by skyvisionsolutions, who contacted WordPress.com staff support. I’ve forwarded this issue to our VideoPress team, who are currently investigating the issue.

I initially submitted information to Community Forum. Hard to find how one obtains “direct email support” advertised for Premium members. Finally found an email address listed in a Community Forum thread. In any case, whether it be through Community Forum or “direct email support,” the issue regarding creating custom thumbnails remains unresolved as of this date.

I’m sorry this is still unresolved. I’ve checked back with our VideoPress team, and they confirmed that this issue is still being worked on. I’ll make sure to keep you posted as soon as it’s resolved.
If you need any further help please let me know, otherwise I’ll be in touch when I hear more about this VideoPress issue.

I’ve got good news from our VideoPress team — while the issue was a bit harder to come by than initially figured, they believe it’s now fixed! Please try it out — if thumbnail generation is still broken for you, please report it here.

Thanks so much. Yes, I was able to now create custom thumbnails for three separate videos, so the problem appears to be fixed. I had tried just yesterday and couldn’t. Today I can.
