No longer getting email notifications of comments left on my posts/

  • So the “email new comments” toggle thing is fixed!

    And @hughsviewsandnews, I was able to get a colleague to test my one theory, but missed the ping saying it was done. Can you log out and log back in now, and confirm whether that helps at all?

    Hi @supernovia, Yes, I can confirm the ’email new comments’ bug is now fixed. Thank you.

    But I’m still not getting email notifications of comments being left on my blog posts.

    Thanks for the update! Taking a closer look at your Settings -> Discussion page, it looks like there are two settings:

    1. “Email me whenever”
    2. “Before a comment appears”

    The first one, only the “Anyone posts a comment” is selected, but you have moderation turned on for all comments. Since moderation is enabled, it’s likely not triggering the email for comments being posted. Could you try checking under the “Email me whenever” setting the option to be emailed when a comment is being held in moderation and see if you get those notifications? Let us know if you still have trouble and we’ll keep digging into this. Thank you!

    I’ve changed the settings as requested but am still not getting email notifications of when comments are left on my posts other than if they are left by ‘anonymous.’

  • Hi @hughsviewsandnews! It seems that you have turned off email notifications for comments in your Notification Settings:

    https://wordpress.com/me/notifications

    Can you please check the box beside “Comments on my site” and under “Email” then click Save Settings?

    Thank you, @druesome, that has sorted the problem, although I do not recall ever altering that setting. But thanks for getting to the bottom of it for me. The email notifications are now coming through.

  • How strange! I’d confirmed weeks ago that you had that box checked.

    On the 10th, I thought we’d for sure solved the issue: I’d realized there were two conflicting sets of subscriptions for your one email, and we’d had them merged. Perhaps the one that wasn’t subscribed took priority?

    In any case I’m relieved to hear this is solved!
