No matter what theme I activate, posts are always 900 px.

I have tried to switch themes, but it just doesnt change.
Now I have activated Twenty Thirteen, which is supposed to be as wide top to bottom. But it is not.Something is stuck somewhere, and I cant figure it out.
I had an upgraded account before, but couldnt pay for it anymore so am using the free version now. Could some css be stuck there? I played around with moving pixels in css. But shouldnt that all be removed when I change my account into a free one? And especially, when I switch themes?
Losing my mind. Just want a normal site.

Hi there,
Do you mean the width of the content area is only 900px?
This is normal, even on full-width themes – “full-width” in this case typically refers to the header and footer areas, and sometimes to images. But text content is typically limited to a width of between 50 and 75 characters per line.
This is based on typography research that shows the eye is most comfortably able to read lines of text that’s within that range – any wider and eyes get tired faster, as they have to move more while reading, and it becomes easier to lose your place when moving from one line to the next. So most themes set a fixed width for text content, even while other content on the site can be wider.
On our Pro plan you can use custom CSS code to make the content area wider, but a change like this will likely have an impact on the readability of your content.
Let me know if you have any questions about this.

The theme is behaving as expected, but I do see your site wasn’t properly downgraded when you cancelled your old Business Plan. While it won’t have any effect on the content area width for your theme, it will be better if we properly downgrade your site to the free plan again (unless you plan to buy a new upgrade to the Pro plan).
This will completely remove any plugins you still have installed, and there’s a small risk that content you added to the site since first installing plugins could be lost, though in most cases if that happens we can restore it.
Please confirm if I can go ahead with properly downgrading your site.

There’s an old Jetpack connection in your account for these4corners.com, and I’m guessing it was set as the primary site in your account at some point – the primary site in the account is automatically selected when you create a new forum thread.
You can change your primary site at https://wordpress.com/me/account.
I can also remove that Jetpack connection for you, if you no longer want this site connected to your account. Please confirm if I should do that.

Thank you! Thank you so much for your very insightful and nicely written response. And for understanding what I was blurting out in midnight frustration! :)
You are welcome to remove the jet pack connection and to downgrade my site properly. I have copied my posts just in case.
I understand about the width, and I have found a way to make it work for me :)
One more question since your here, how is it that if I replace an image on a page with the “replace” button, the link it was holding is still removed? This causes me frustration :) I feel like the Replace button should keep that link intact.
On my front page I link to posts from images, which I am not always happy with so I wish I could just replace them to see how it looks, without manually needing to go in find link, copy paste, update.. Its’ a hassle for one who has decision making issues! :P
Anyway, thanks again. I felt embarassed this morning about my dumb post, now I feel much better. I appreciate your tone very much :)

I’m glad to hear that :)

Thanks for confirming. Done and done.
Regarding the downgrade, I realise I forgot a couple details – this process reverts your site to how it was before you installed plugins, so it will also revert to the theme you had at that time. So you’ll just need to reactivate the theme you want to use, and set your dagens vibe. page as the homepage again.
You might also see some old posts you’d deleted previously now restored, in addition to the posts you’ve since added, so you may need to delete those again.
Sorry for not making this clear in advance.
You’ll now access the site at the original https://dagensvibe.wordpress.com/ URL again.

The default link for images is always a link to the image file itself, and that would change when updating the image.
I’m guessing when the custom link option was added to images, the developers made the assumption that, similar to the default option, users would want to change the custom link as well when they change the image. I can understand why you’d want it to work differently, but that’s just not how the software was designed in this case :)
I would like to suggest an alternative, though – have you looked at the Blog Posts block? That’s a block you can add on your front page, to display posts there. You can set it to display your most recent posts, only posts from a particular category, or manually assign only specific posts to show. Then you can control whether it shows only an image, or an image and description, and whether the posts appear in columns, a grid, or a vertical list like you currently do it.
For the images, that block pulls in the featured image set on the post, so to change an image, you’d edit the post, replace the featured image, and on the front page it will update automatically while the link to the post remains intact.
If you want to give this a try, you can find more details on this block here:

No need to feel embarrassed at all. I’m glad I could help :)
Don’t hesitate if you have any further questions.
