No more access to advanced Typekit?
-
At some point after November’s announcement of new fonts, I switched away from advanced Typekit (something I often do depending on the font I want). Today I read somewhere that after that introduction of new fonts, anyone who turned off advanced Typekit would not be able to return to it, meaning I’m now stuck with the much more limited selection in the WP customizer. (This was not explained to me when I asked how to return to advanced Typekit — https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/where-to-enter-typekit-id?replies=6#post-1513094)
I’m really confused. The Typekit library is far larger than what’s offered in the WP customizer. Can I or can I not return to advanced Typekit mode?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It seems I can still used the “back door” method I describe in the link, but doing so breaks the font settings from the WP customizer. I can’t figure out how (or if I can) set the bulk of my font specs with the customizer and the logo with advanced Typekit.

We phased out advanced Typekit a few months ago. Instead, we are focusing our efforts on making one set of simple-to-use font tools for all of our users.
If you currently have a Typekit ID associated with your site, you can continue to use it, but we have closed the system to new users.
For more information on the change, please see:

Yes, I still have my Typekit ID, but it’s now a bit tricky to activate and deactivate since you’ve “hidden” the interface (luckily I’d made a note of the URL). Typekit, the customizer, and my manual CSS changes often don’t play well together, so I usually deactivate advanced Typekit when I don’t need it.

Sorry about that. Have you been able to figure it out?
I also think you may have discovered one of the reasons we decided not to continue with the Typekit option, as we are expanding our own tools to do the same thing Typekit offered, and even more.

As long as I can still use my Typekit ID to get back into Typekit when I want to, I’m confident I’ll figure it out eventually (busy with a theme change right now).
I do appreciate what WP is trying to do, but would note again that the advantage with Typekit is its much larger font selection. Some of those less popular, more distinctive fonts, while not desirable for general text or headlines, make excellent logos (I used John Doe for many months).

I hear what you’re saying. One idea is to check out different free (or low cost) font resources and create your logo as a standalone image in a graphics program.
A few options for fonts include:

http://www.dafont.com/
http://www.fontsquirrel.com -
I’ve tried that occasionally. Generally the resulting image is not as professional looking as I want. Also, some themes don’t allow for a custom header, or a custom header in the right place, or one that doesn’t remove SEO information. I appreciate your suggestions, but over the years I think I’ve tried everything.

To be specific, as long as I have my Typekit ID, I can continue to enable or disable Typekit at will and it should still work?
