No more format style on visual editor?

    Yesterday I noticed that the available styles on the visual editor had changed. There’s no longer the option to use the ‘format’ style so if I copy and pasted text from a word document that already had formatting to it (without html codes attached), the formatting would no longer show up (as it did before) when I pasted it.

    How do I get this back? 90% of my posts originate from word documents and it is very tedious to have to reformat every single bold, italic and underline that each document has. The default input of ‘paragraph’ as the style makes it even worse because now my spacing is gone. None of the other styles keep my text as it was in the word doc either. The amount of time I’ve spent on reformatting a post that was already formatted in a word doc is at least four times as long as it normally would take for me to schedule one. It’s aggravating and way more frustrating then I can even describe.

    So, again, how do I get the format style option back? Does anyone know how? And does anyone know why it has just disappeared all of a sudden?

    Hi Grace,

    Thanks for your response. Unfortunately, that is not helpful. My issue is that the text IS stripped of formatting. I DON’T want that because either way you paste the text (through the Plain Text option or through the Paragraph style) it still strips the formatting, which makes things more time consuming and difficult for me.

    My issue here is that I want my formatting that I paste in my WordPress draft to have the same formatting that is in my word doc. With the new updates, I no longer have that option. At least none that I have seen so this new update is far from an improvement for me.

    Do you know of a way that I can keep my formatting when pasting the text from a word doc to my WP draft? Because my formatting is stripped away even with the Plain Text option turned off. Thanks.

    Hi Nikyta,

    Unfortunately, that wouldn’t be possible. I highly recommend writing up the post in WordPress.com’s post editor and then save as needed. This would remove the extra step of copying and pasting.

    Thanks but unfortunately the posts that I’m pasting from word docs are by other people (guest posts) so that wouldn’t work either. They’re also not very techie so explaining to them how to use HTML coding wouldn’t would be almost impossible.

    Is there a place I can recommend to WP to bring the option back? It kind of amazes me that WP neglected to think of those individuals who preferred the formatted pasting by eliminating this option.
