No more posterous import?
-
I was talking about the one used with a wordpress hosted site.
There’s a plugin called “posterous importer” which adds an import posterous menu in the import menu.Well it doesn’t work very well. It imports only text and pics, not video or audio and at that only low res versions of your pics.

@chezpaul
Your site is not hosted on WordPress.COM and you are posting to the wrong support forum. This forum is for support of sites hosted on WordPress.COM. Your support questions must be posted to the correct support site for your software and that is here http://wordpress.ORG/support/

I am posting to the correct forum.
If they make import posterous work on wordpress.com then I’ll import my posterous to a site there then export it to my site.
So I think I am in the right place.;-)

Thank you everyone for your patience while the Posterous importer underwent some essential maintenance. The importer is once again available. Please note that images larger than 1000px will be imported scaled to that size. This issue is still being worked on.

Great… we’ve had problems importing our blog from Posterous before you took the importer down for maintenance, and we’d like to try it again now that the work has been done. Can you clear out what we imported previously, since when we tried to import on top of a previous import in the past, it didn’t work. The blog is http://urbanedgeny.wordpress.com/

Hi macmanx,
I’ve tried to use the posterous importer, but I just get a blank screen. Help!
-
You added an extra dot to your hostname field in the importer. Please remove it and try again.

This works great!.. I was able to import my posterous blog.
Now I’m one step closer to using wordpress. So now I tried to export my imported site to another wordpress site.
So I exported creating an XML file. Then re imported into my new site this XML and now all my picctures are all messed up. All over the place, in posts they shouldn’t be in.
Is there a “best” way to do this ?

Okay, I just saw the Guided import to wordpress.org hosted site.
$129 seems a little steep. -

chezpaul, if you’re having trouble with your self-hosted WordPress site, please contact http://wordpress.org/support/
Also, they have their own importer plugin. You don’t need to use us as a middle-man: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/posterous-importer/
atickleroffancies, please try a different browser, like Firefox or Chrome: http://browsehappy.com/
