No more posterous import?
-
Macmanx, thanks for you reply.
I know they have their own posterous importer plugin (beleive me, I tried it) but it doesn’t work at all and the devs aren’t supporting it anymore it seems. Everyone in my case knows this and use the wordpress.com plugin instead.
If you do a google search the first 20 results all explain how to do this through worpress.com and so I did.
I’m now getting the media already exists but I will search elsewhere for answers don’t worry.
It is interesting though how depedning on which browser you use, you get different results.
Thanks.

Macmanx,
Thanks for getting back to me again, I’ve tried this in both Chrome and Firefox and have still had no luck. Any idea what could be going wrong?
Thanks

Just a follow-up to report that the image-scaling issue should now be resolved and images should be importable from Posterous at their full size once again. Thanks for your patience.

Wow, it’s great that you guys are still working on this.
It seems like it’s ALMOST there…
I re imported everything and…
Some of my files are linked and some are actually moved over (YES!).I don’t see a difference in why one pic would be moved over and another one linked. Sometimes they are in different posts and sometimes even in the same post it will act differently with 2 pics.
If you guys can fix that then we’re all set.
Would it be a timing issue during the import ? -
Now if these other guys could also fix the import wordpress plugin that would be great. The plug in sometimes imports full scale and sometimes it won’t. Very annoying.

Hi Guys,
First, sorry for my english. I’m a french speaking native.
So, questions :
I have a Posterous blog (http://comfluences.net/) and I’m trying to find the best way to import it in WP.com. (I’m a WP beginner)
– If I use the “import button”, it will erase all the content on my former blog ? Or will they coexist ?
– As you can see, I’ve got a domain name (purchased with Posterous/Google Apps). I’m affraid the change impact my ranking on Google. What is the best way to avoid this ? The import button will make the change and redirect my domain to WP.com ?Thanks for your help

Bonjour!

Importing your content will not erase it from the old site, the content will be on both sites.

As long as you (1) will be mapping the custom domain to your WordPress.com site, and (2) don’t edit the post slugs, they should generally redirect automatically.
Just let me know if you have further questions.
