    Hi Aram,

WordPress.com does not support incoming domain transfers.

Since squarespace isn’t a domain registrar, (they get their domains from Tucows) you probably don’t have a lot of DNS options, so I understand your desire to transfer your domain somewhere.

I would recommend transferring your domain to http://domains.google.com

Once you’ve done that, you can map your WordPress.com website to your domain: https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/

Tucows will let the name servers be changed (I am registered with them) – but don’t know if Squarespace can change name servers, have you ask Squarespace for help?

There are other ways to get a domain name to work with WordPress.COM, not as nice as name servers,

I have flagged this for the staff to see if they can help you.

There are many domain registrars that accept incoming transfers, Name Cheap is another one that some of my friends use

    Hi there,

As jameswelbes mentioned above, WordPress.com can’t accept incoming domain transfers. Instead, you’ll need to map your domain to WordPress.com using the steps in our guide to Use a Domain You Already Own (Domain Mapping).

You’ll need to change your domain’s name servers directly at Squarespace — you can contact Squarespace support to make that change. Here are the name servers you will need to use for your domain:

    • NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    • NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    • NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)

Thank you guys for your help, I think I may just move to godaddy and go from there. If I switch are the nameservers going to show up in the wordpress menu ?

    Hello Aram,

No, your nameservers will “show up” wherever your domain is registered.

WordPress.com’s nameservers are static, and unchanging. They will always be ns1.wordpress.com ns2.wordpress.com and ns3.wordpress.com.

You will need to update your domain Nameserver setting to reflect this.
