No new views on blog for almost a month despite multiple subscribers

  • Unknown's avatar

I have multiple subscribers to my blog, but the last one that had any views was published on the 8th of February 2017. I have posted 4 new blog posts since (earliest is 17th of February) but not a single view on any of them. They are all visible on my home page though. I am wondering if there is a glitch regarding notifying my subscribers or something like that.
Usually I get new notifications of new views within minutes of new views/likes/subscribers. I am not aware of any settings I have changed to make it no longer visible from search engines.
I understand that it takes some time for the statistics to be updated but the last one that had any views were on February 8.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

Where exactly are you checking this? At https://wordpress.com/stats/traveltravelmakerismymiddlename.wordpress.com ?

I can see views for your site being recorded there, and it appears to be updating correctly.

Usually I get new notifications of new views within minutes

We have never sent notification for new views. You are notified of new likes, comments, or followers, but not of new views.

    Hi,
Sorry. “Usually I get new notifications of new views within minutes” I mean, I get notified of new likes and when I click on the link to go to check, I can see how many views it has (I check the stats on my home page when I log into wordpress), it is indicated by the little eye icon.

  • Okay, so all that’s happening here is that you’re not getting new likes. That’s normal. People aren’t going to Like every post you publish. But that doesn’t mean people aren’t viewing your site – the fact that there are recorded views for almost every day this week proves it.

    Hi Kokkieh,
It’s not just the ‘likes’ I’m referring to, rather that in the stats section when I log in, for some of my posts, it shows no views (0 for everything).
Anyway, it’s not that important, I was just wondering if I did something in the settings (a while ago I accidentally discovered my blog was set to hidden)
A related question, other than the stats section (accessible when I log in), how else did you see the ‘recorded views’? Cause when I visit my blog site externally it doesn’t actually display the number of views, I didn’t put in a visitor counter widget or anything similar.
    Thank you!

  • It’s normal to have days with 0 views. You only have 8 followers on your site, and currently you’re only posting about once a week, so on days when you don’t post you won’t be getting as much traffic (if any) as on days you do. And while your site is over a year old, you only started posting regularly a couple of months ago, so you won’t be getting any traffic yet from search engines at this stage as they’re still indexing your site.

I am on WordPress.com’s support staff. I can view your stats page directly. That’s how I know what your stats look like.

Okay thanks for the clarification, just wanted to make sure it wasn’t a setting I accidentally messed with on my end.
    Have a nice day

  • Glad I could help :)

    Hi Kokkieh,
Sorry to bother you again, but if there wasn’t something wrong with my blog before, there sure is now.
Today I had a little trouble saving my blog at first, the ‘save’ button was stuck on ‘saving…’ for a long time. As I only made minor changes, i closed the tab and re-opened it and re-changed it, and it saved. The I clicked on ‘publish’ (not delete or trash) and it said “success your new post has been published” (or whatever it usually says) BUT it is not actually there! At the moment it disappeared from my drafts list and it is also not visible on the ‘published posts’ list either! I have deleted a post a long time ago, deleted posts show up as ‘trashed’ with an ‘untrash’ option, but my lastest post is absolutely no where to be seen, at all. I tried accessing my dashboard but it is also not there. At the moment it is 20 published posts and 4 drafts, it should be 21 published posts and 4 drafts. Can I recover it in any way?
(Should I put this in a new post? I kept it here because it is about the same blog)
    Thank you!
    Stephanie

    Update:
Sorry … I found the post in question (I think)… but for some reason it said I posted it 2 months ago… I am pretty I did not do that cause I was posting it in a particular order, and besides, I know I definitely had 5 drafts before, and I clicked on ‘publish’ and now there are 4 drafts in my drafts folder, but the amount of ‘published posts’ are the same.

So sorry, one more update (why can’t we edit our posts on the forum?), I know for sure now that the post in question, I posted it today, because I just checked it and it has the change that I made today. If it was posted 2 months ago like it ‘says’ it was, it should not have the updates I made today.

  • Did you start working on the draft two months ago? If you did, the date could have been saved at that point, and it didn’t update when you finally published it two months later. But you can change the publication date in the post editor. Edit the post again, and click on Status in the post settings. Update the date to today’s and it will publish on the correct date instead.

At the moment it is 20 published posts and 4 drafts, it should be 21 published posts and 4 drafts. Can I recover it in any way?

What is the title of the post you’re missing? Without knowing what to look for there’s no way I can tell you if it can be recovered or not.

    Hello Kokkieh
The title is “Ping Jiang Road, Suzhou, China” but today it has miraculously decided to appear, so I think it is good for now. (I tried refreshing it so many times yesterday, and it refused to show up).
I prewrote it 2 months ago and was going to publish it later.
Also I know you can change the publication date from the dashboard. I did that yesterday and the publication date changed but did not actually appear in my list of published posts. It is all fine today, thank you.
Any idea why it happened and how to prevent this?
    Thank you.

Hope this is an appropriate spot to ask a question… I have the same issue as notbeeneverywhereyet regarding views~ 39 new subscribers in the past 2 days, but only one view and one visitor per day on the stats list. The subscribers are all on my user list~ are they real people or bots? or as subscribers do they just view my blog via email without stats being logged? Also I had 63 views on March 29 but only one visitor. I don’t think I understand what these stats are showing…

  • @mphossil,

It is always better to start your own thread:

    https://en.forums.wordpress.com/?new=1

It’s also impossible to check into stats on your site if you don’t give us the address of your site. Please start a new thread, add the tag, “modlook”, and include the site address, and we’ll take a look for you.
