No Option for 'nameservers' in Store > My Domains

  Hi,

  I am trying to point the nameservers on my wordpress.com site to my newly purchased self hosting. I’ve followed the instructions exactly ( http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/change-name-servers/ ) but there is simply no NAMESERVERS tab visible to me when I go to Store > My Domains and click ‘Edit Domain’. There are only tabs for ‘Email’ and ‘Edit DNS’. What’s going on?

  PS, I’ve also tried to transfer the domain but this option is not available/visible either.

  Which domain you need help?
  Do you bought it at the store WordPress.com?

  The blog I need help with is theinc.ca.

  http://theinc.ca/ works fine for me.

  Yes the site works. This is not the issue though.

  It is currently being hosted by wordpress.com but I’d like to change the host. To do this I need to change the nameservers within the dashboard of my site. The nameservers option (as described in the support link above) is not even visible to me though – this is the issue.

  Sorry. Originally when I started it it was on the issue of the “nameservers” button not being there, which seemed different than the issue on other thread (which I didn’t start). I’m happy to change this to ‘resolved’ if that helps.

  Hi there!

  Your domain theinc.ca is not registered through WordPress.com. You’ll need to log into your account with your registrar in order to change your name servers.

  It looks like you may have registered your domain through domainsatcost.ca:

  http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/results.jsp?domain=theinc.ca

  Thanks so much for this. This would make sense,

  But I am still a little confused:

  In the Store settings it looks like we are paying for the Domain… so I naturally thought WordPress.com was the Domain holder… so any idea of what is going on?

  Is it possible the domain name is registered through 2 places? And….If it is not registered with wordpress.com, why are we paying for it?

  (FYI I’ve been assigned to look after this site but didn’t originally set it up, which explains my extra confusion)

  The site is using a Domain Mapping upgrade. Basically this allows your domain to be registered somewhere else but display your WordPress.com site when visited.

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
