No photo thumbnail with link posted on FB

  I am posting a link from my new blog onto Facebook, and even though I have a slideshow of photos attached to that specific blog, the wordpress link on FB does not show any of my photos (only a wordpress logo). It used to show 1 of my photos. I’ve been through this so many times and it drives me crazy. I tried to set a featured image, but I don’t want that image at the top of my blogpage. I only want a thumbnail photo to accompany my link on FB, the way it used to be.

  Howdy,

  There’s a couple of options here. Facebook scans your blog’s post to determine what options to give you for the thumbnail image based on the images present. Facebook isn’t able to pull from the “Slideshow” gallery format.

  Thus, in the most recent posts that I reviewed, Facebook doesn’t have an image on that page to offer to you for a thumbnail. To change that you can either:

  1. use a gallery form other than slideshow,
  2. add an image to your post somewhere,
  3. add a feature image
  4. or update your custom header image in Appearance->Custom Header (as it is currently set to an image that was deleted).

  Any of those would give Facebook something to grab. Finally, you can insert your post’s URL in the Facebook Debugger ( https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug ) which will refresh what Facebook has stored for your site and show you how Facebook “sees” your post.
