to bring everyone up to speed, i have learned that I would need to use wordpress.org not .com
also, this requires me to have:
Access to your web server (via shell or FTP)
A text editor
An FTP Client
Your web browser of choiceThis isn’t the easiest for me, I haven’t used an FTP server in years and I don’t really want to waste money.
AllI wanted to do was use Facebook FB Apps Ninja to create iframes and drop in websites to integrate with facebook.
That doesn’t really warrant the $110 I’ve spent so far plus all the other stuff now like FTP servers etc.Can ayone help me here, I’m just baffled.
I CAN’T EVEN GET THE WORDPRESS.ORG INSTALLATION TO WORK.
It has downloaded a file to my desktop, but then nothing. This is getting WAY more complicated than it was supposed to be!ANy help out there? I’m quite good with this stuff for an amateur, but I’m not a web designer or coder, I’ve only ever used 123-reg for FTP Client and Dreamweaver to make a basic website.
thanks in advance

thanks for your reply Tandava.
Yes I have seen this now.
But you CAN use them on wordpress.org
I’m not sure why.Can you shed any light on wordpress.org at all?

The plugin is what i bought as it was sold as if it was a software in itself, ready made and available for download.
Once I bought it from FB APPS NINJA, it turned out to be a wordpress plugin which was not mentioned in any of their sales schtick! So now I’m left running around looking to get wordpress and plug it in.
Here is the video they show to do the plug in, this may help alot in me finding out an answer. -
WordPress.org is just the wordpress software that you have to install, configure, and use. You also have to keep it patched so that it is up to date with security fixes. This is a lot of work, and requires technical ability.
I wouldn’t think it worth doing just to run one plugin. I would suggest that you try to get a refund on the plugin.

This is what I was afraid of.
What do you mean by “keep it patched”?I offer XML feeds to estate agents and I wanted to switch from simply uploading their properties into their facebook feed… to actually embedding their website and search page into their facebook page.
So I wouldn’t be using it once, but at the same time, the cost is rising and the time it takes to set it up is spiralling.
It was meant to be a few minutes and it’s left me not knowing what I’m doing.
If you watch the video above, it shows how to add the plug in, I just can’t get THAT screen to appear.
I’ll be spending the day trying to resolve this issue.
Once again thanks for your reply. All help is very much appeciated.
Te internet is a tricky place but it can have results financially if old farts like me get to grips with it!

“Keep it patched” means that security updates are released at times. Some hacker finds a weakness enabling them to hack your site – and wordpress fixes it. If you are self hosting (.org) you need to check for these fixes (security patches) and apply them yourself. WordPress.com is kept up to date for you.
