No registration emails..

  • Unknown's avatar

    So I use a domain hosting service (no I am not using wordpress.org just yet but .com indeed) and it includes
    email forwarding and this works perfectly for most everything, now having tried to register now with two different usernames with
    emails from URLs I own and not getting any registration emails for over 3 hours, I decided to try a generic one using a generic Yahoo account, whereby it arrived in seconds (as did this one I’m using to post this with).

    Now I have seen sometimes that emails don’t come through but only to one of the (actual) email addresses the emails gets forwarded to, in this case nothing is coming through, and they go to a number of email addresses, and nothing! Any suggestions? :(

    Well it doesn’t seem like there is much of support on here either!!?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Do you really think 32 minutes is a long time to wait for an answer from volunteers who have lives?

    You say “here either.” Did you post first at wordpress.org? Your first sentence contains an oxymoron. What is your url?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Mrs President,

    Yes 32 mins is a VERY long time in a blogging community, not to mention your post contains NOT a single reply to the question either!

    You might want to re-read the post, why would I post on .org about a .com question? The URL/domain hosting *AND* email forwarding ISP has nothing to do with using the .org downloadable option in regards to this question, the question was 100% related to the myusername.wordpress.com should I post up some images and draw it dot-to-dot for you?

    About the oxymoron that would be the question “What is your url?” on this subject!

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hmmm, that’s a strange way to go about getting assistance from volunteers. How is that approach working for you?

  • barajagoxo, you already have an account — the one you used to post here on the forum.

    Its email address looks bogus to me. Are you sure you’re entering a valid email address? If you send the details to support we might be able to help.

  • Unknown's avatar

    barajagoxo.wordpress.com does not exist, so how can it relate?

  • Unknown's avatar

    I still don’t understand about the domain hosting service. And at this point, after his attitude and abuse, I really don’t care.

    “Hmmm, that’s a strange way to go about getting assistance from volunteers. How is that approach working for you?”

    A) One would’ve expected replies from WordPress itself on here too as their support section suggests to go here.

    B) Volunteers or not when there are ridiculous statements/questions (more on here now again) what can one do but be amazed at the questions/statements made prior to actually reading/thinking it through first?

    C) How is it working out? Well turns out WP replied to my email, with something very ironic told me to check with my email provider or change my email in my profile, neither obviously addresses the issue of NEVER getting the registration emails!!

    “barajagoxo, you already have an account — the one you used to post here on the forum.”

    Aah, yeah that would correspond to my initial statement of “(as did this one I’m using to post this with)”, are we speaking the same language here?

    “Its email address looks bogus to me. Are you sure you’re entering a valid email address? If you send the details to support we might be able to help.”

    A) How about we take that idea and proceed with it? *IF* it was “bogus” as you prefer to call it, how would I be able to activate this account and use it??

    B) Feel free to email me at my “bogus” email that I’ve used for a decade and a half? Although that has nothing to do with the account/email in question, and for obvious reasons (to anyone familiar with the internet) I can’t post the details of an account which I haven’t been able to confirm/complete registration on.

    C) Support already has the details, as for that I included two “extra” emails and asked them to CC to them, which they DID! Aside from that I can confirm that the email from support (which I’d assume is coming from the same server?) came through just nice to ALL the email providers my ISP is forwarding the emails to!

    “barajagoxo.wordpress.com does not exist, so how can it relate?”

    Is this comment directed to me or to “Key Master”?? Yes it does NOT exist as this account was established for the sole purpose of posting on here about the OTHER account, not to mentioned in public (obviously) before I can complete it’s registration! Nor can I post in here with it before it’s completely registered (read: confirmed the email address…)

    “I still don’t understand about the domain hosting service. And at this point, after his attitude and abuse, I really don’t care.”

    Who is abusing what? If you don’t understand say so (you already did now).
    For those who are familiar with URL registrations, domain hosting and URL or/and email forwarding it will make sense, for those not familiar with it, it will indeed be like speaking in a foreign language.

    P.S. I already gave up on getting WordPress.com to resolve this and went ahead and got WordPress.org downloaded and setup, yesterday. As it becomes more evident that this subject is beyond anyone competence on here anyhow, not to mention the time it takes for “support” to reply!

    If you’d been a member for longer than 15 hours, you might know how ridiculous that statement is.

    Happy blogging.

    “If you’d been a member for longer than 15 hours, you might know how ridiculous that statement is.”

    …and you’ve been on the internet how many decades? :)

  • Unknown's avatar

    Since before the Internet, dearie. 1986. And you?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Wow. Time for the ban hammer.

    @’MR’ ellaella,

    Oh so you were “on the internet” since “before the internet 1986” I see now why you like the term “oxymoron”. FYI in 1986 it was referred to as BBS’ not the internet, which BBS’ were you active on if one might ask? :)

    It would appear your blog is reaching it’s first eight months of being active…

    @vivianpaige,

    Ok I don’t think a hammer is the appropriate tool on the internet, perhaps it is in politics :)

    This is now taken care of WP actually emailed me the activation link (to an alternative email) so THUMBS UP for WP actually understanding and helping out on the matter.. unlike some :)

    P.S. To those politically minded individuals on here who think the first best thing is to crush someone who expresses openly what they think, last I checked that was one of the founding principles behind the country you so proudly claim to represent/serve :) oh well…also you might want to check up on the principles behind WP before making certain statements :) and I quote (as also like to do it seems..)

    “Don’t hide your emotions
    Tempting as it might be, don’t hide your real emotions. “

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Writing_Posts

    So your “politically correct” attitude is only appropriate in your selfish ambitions for power and control, there you go my REAL EMOTIONS :)

    @raincoaster,

    Well I guess your comment(s) speak for themselves as to your level and field of expertise :)

    So what are you getting out of it, Murphy’s law only? :)

  • Unknown's avatar

    It appears your blog is in its first 24 hours of being active, so why are you throwing “old timer” attitude?

    Wow, for somebody who can’t wait even 32 minutes for assistance before becoming abusive, you sure have a lot of time to waste hanging around forums for platforms which you claimed a few mintues ago you’ve already left.

    You want old timers? You got ’em.
    See these computers:
    http://valleywag.com/5014594/twitter-tries-to-steal-apples-spotlight

    I still have one of them, and it still works.

    Let’s see. I’m caught up with my work enough to play the OP’s game one more time.

    Of course they were bbs. And we had sysops, not mods. We all had local boards, 300 baud modems, and text-only national services including CompuServe, Spectrum and GEnie. The 8088 chip was state of the art. MS-DOS was king, despite a challenge by DR DOS, which was not “doctor dos” as some called it, but Digital Research.

    My blog is much older than 8 months. And I’ve been here longer than almost 1 day.

    And now, since you seem to have the “last word gene” I will leave you to it and say again, happy blogging. And goodbye.

    And Mark Twain was right.

    @raincoaster,

    Been using the emails and then the web for two respectively one and a half decades. No, never claimed to be a blogger nor blog expert but seeing what individuals who claim to educate others about the web actually comprehend about a technical question makes one wonder :)
    Old timers use(d) BBS’ as already stated, that would be pre-internet. Unlike the web of the 80’s today’s world is a LIVE one with live responses and support! So the old times are gone with hours or days of waiting!

    @ellaella,

    300 baud modems came later that was the ones where you weren’t able to keep up with reading as “fast” as the text came along, on the 150 baud ones you were able to read as fast as it loaded :)
    Sysops were like domain owners of today yes.

    I have not been on here for longer than a day, and deciding from the attitude of the politicians, internet self proclaimed experts, and food/political experts (however that works, maybe I should ask George :)) I don’t feel like it is a place I want to waste any more time!
