No 'reply' link on second level comments in WordPress blog
-
I am logged in and have already posted several replies to existing comments on a post at http://scientiasalon.wordpress.com/2014/09/01/the-intuitional-problem-of-consciousness/
In each case, I waited for moderation and refreshed my browser, and my comments appeared as expected. Now I find that most existing comment do not have a ‘reply’ link. So I can’t post a comment on a comment. It looks to me as if the ‘reply’ link only appears at the bottom of first-level comments on the original posts, so it’s not possible to add a comment in reply to a comment , as in most commenting systems.
I find that strange and not useful, to say the least. Is this behaviour by design? Surely not? Or is there a problem?
I’m using IE 8 on Windows 7, but I’ve checked in Chrome on Win 7 and Android as well, so it isn’t a browser or OS issue. -
WordPress.com supports the browsers and version of them found at http://browsehappy.com.IE8 and UE9 are not longer supported so upgrade or download another browser please.
That said, I have the same issue when using Firefox 31 and viewing your comments ie. no reply link on the second level of nested comments. I’ll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

It’s a setting that the blog owner can choose, under Settings – Discussion. Then under Other comment settings, you can set how deep threaded (nested) comments should be.
In this case, it’s probably set to 2.

Also please do upgrade your browser version or download another one. If you don’t then you will have repeated issues with accessing all WordPress.com features and functions.
