No RSS Feed?
-
I’m using the Ryu theme on my site and don’t seem to have an RSS feed. I tried adding a text widget with the link http://ncarringtontwo.wordpress.com/feed, which actually seems to show the blog posts, but if you just go to http://ncarringtontwo.wordpress.com/feed in your web browser, there is just a coding map.
I don’t have custom CSS for this site. Any help?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
I’m curious too. I see an online tip to concatenate /feed/ to your blog URL, but this doesn’t work for the site trying to add my blog as a feed.

Feeds are not designed to be read by humans when you visit them in the browser like this: https://ncarringtontwo.wordpress.com/feed/
They’re written in a language called XML that can be displayed in a more human-friendly format when pulled into something like a feed reader. An example of a feed reader is the WordPress.com Reader, which you’ll see here when logged in: https://wordpress.com
nickic18 and edmahoney – if you let me know your goal I’ll be better able to help. Normally you don’t add your own blog’s feed to your site, since your posts are already visible right there on your blog page. You can add another site’s feed to your site using the RSS widget:

My goal is to essentially have my posts properly displayed in Bloglovin’, and from what I’ve been told the issue is with my layout and you can see whether or not you have a properly functioning RSS by adding ‘/feed’ to your site URL.
Since it seems that I don’t have a properly functioning RSS, I’m wonder how or if this can be rectified without the use of additional coding.
-
Makes sense Kathy. I did add the feed link to another of my blogs and it works. An admin I am working with at coloradorunnermag.com is having trouble getting WordPress URL/feed/ to work on his site.
-
Hi Nicole, you do have a properly functioning RSS feed. :-)
Could you try finding out from Bloglovin specifically what they have a problem with on the technical side in relation to the feed and we can take it from there?
-
Ed – looks like coloradorunnermag.com is a self-hosted site (these forums are for folks running on WordPress.com) and they’ve routed their RSS feed through Feedburer here:
http://feeds.feedburner.com/ColoradoRunner
I found that by looking in the browser source.

Hi Kathryn,
I’m learning now that the issue is that my RSS feed doesn’t support images. Is there an appropriate plugin that can be used for WordPress.com not .org?
Thanks!

You might want to take a look at this similar thread about feeds & Bloglovin, beginning here:

It looks like Bloglovin has some problems pulling in images from WordPress.com feeds, but they say they’re working on it, and you’re definitely not alone:
Of course we do not intentionally stop images from some blogs. It is equally in our interest that the blogs have images displayed on Bloglovin as that improves the experience for anyone using Bloglovin.
We are having some major issues with the images of some blogs hosted with WordPress. We are trying to find out exactly what the problem is and how to resolve it. Unfortunately the issue has not gotten the attention it should have, but we have now realized the severity of it as more and more bloggers are contacting us about it.
I sincerely apologize about the inconvenience this may cause you. I can only ask for your patience and hope that it won’t be too long before we have a solution.

One thing you could try is displaying full posts in your blog archive instead of using the More tag in each post, and seeing if that makes a difference in your feed when it gets pulled into Bloglovin. I’m not sure it will, but it may be worth a try on a few posts as a test.

Thanks again Kathy. Your responses have all been helpful. The admin I was working with has resolved his issues.

Hi.. Doing a website for HVAC in Los angeles and can’t seem to get any items in feed. Do you know if “pages” get included in the RSS feed as well as “posts”? If not, how do I get “pages” in the RSS Feed?
website: http://www.ecogreengro.com
Thanks, I think it will auto correct with wordpress updates, not sure though?

Hi airductpro33 – pages consist of static content, so they aren’t included in RSS feeds, which are meant as a revolving feed of new posts.
You’ve found yourself in the WordPress.com forums, which are for folks hosted here at WordPress.com. Your site is self-hosted on your own hosting (at GoDaddy, it looks like), so if you have other questions, feel free to post in the WordPress.org forums:
You’ll need a free WordPress.org account to post – if you don’t already have one, you can register here:
