No search engine-traffic

I started my blog 20 january and have as yet no traffic from any search engines. My previous blog had several hits a day. Am I doing something wrong?

Have you gone and registered your blog with Technorati, Google, MSN and Yahoo? Your blog is only a week old; how many hits did it have at this point? It takes awhile to get found, but registering can speed up the process. Blogs that have been in existence longer rate higher on search engines. A new blog starts at position #50 million or so and climbs from there.

    Greets:

The issue is that it takes a lot longer than just a week and a half to get into the search engines. We’ve had sites around here take up towards three months.

The good news is though while the search engines haven’t added you into their databases yet, they are picking up inbound links to your site.

I wrote up an article on getting traffic to your site. It’s up over at http://pimpmyblog.wordpress.com You may want to review it for ideas.

    Hope this helps,

edit: I would also work on trying to categorize your blog a bit better if you can. Looks like you’re just using simple categories like News and the like. Those get the most turn over around here as nearly everybody writes about those topics.

I just moved my blog to another WP domain a few days ago, and it’s already getting picked up by Yahoo and Google. My hits did drop by about half, but they are slowly recovering. It just takes some time, so hang in there!

    G’Day,
You’ll find some useful information for getting search engine attention in this thread http://wordpress.com/forums/topic.php?id=5859&replies=9

I’m having this same problem. I just transferred my blog from sfnewsletter to theFrontSteps, both at wordpress, and now the new blog is getting zero “Search engine traffic”. The other was crushing it! I even set up a tester account at HydeHaus, and that is getting more traffic than my legit one.

Suggestions? The site I’m at now is thefrontsteps.com.

    thanks!

    Suggestions?

Umn, read the thread that you post in maybe? Not trying to be rude but but looks like your selling some very expensive houses there.

To be honest, looks like to me your site has been indexed fine. I don’t see any links to your site though. You may want to search the forums for “promote” as there are many threads making suggestions on how to get your blog out there. Maybe even want to look up a couple of posts here in this thread. ;)

    Hope this helps,
