No Search on Blog
-
I just created a blog, and moved my content over from my previous host (my own website). But my blog has no search option. Is there supposed to be a search feature that will let users search my blog articles? Is it maybe a problem with the theme I am using? (Brompton)
Thanks for any help!

Hi!
You can add a search box with the aptly named “search widget”
https://wordpress.com/support/widgets/search-widget/
Take a look and let us know if anything is unclear or you have any further questions.

Aha! That worked perfectly. THANK YOU!
And it’s neat that I can put a search block anywhere I want to. Very nice.

While you are at it, is there a way to put a similar kind of search that will create links to filter posts by Tag?
Like my tags as links:
- UnisuLibri
- TheySaid
- SoISaid
- Misc
And each link will filter the blog posts for that tag?

Dang, I thought “UL” meant underline, not Unordered list. LOL I really should have noticed the
- tags.
What I am asking about is:
Is there a way to put a similar kind of search that will create links to filter posts by Tag?
Like my tags as links:
<u>UnisuLibri</u> <u>TheySaid</u> <u>SoISaid</u> <u>Misc</u>
And each link will filter the blog posts for that tag?

For the search included with every WordPress.com site, the Search widget/ block will return results from the titles and the bodies of your posts and pages, and from media titles, alt text, file names, and single image captions. It will not return results from widgets, comments, categories, gallery captions or other text, or tags.
If you want search to search specific tags or categories, you would need to upgrade to Jetpack Search for WordPress.com. You can read more about Jetpack Search here:
