No-sidebar page design
-
This is not a question about any specific WordPress feature or theme, which is why I’m posting here in the “Ideas” forum. It is related to the blogging I’ve been doing on WordPress.
My main site (scvgs.org) was developed with desktop users in mind. The right sidebar has an important link at the top, and an RSS feed in the middle, and lots of other links.
On my smartphone now, none of this sidebar info shows up at all. I’m wondering where to put it. The important link at the top of the sidebar could be put in a sticky post. But except for a sticky post, which I wouldn’t want more than one of, I’m puzzled as to what to do with the rest of the widgets. Move the static links off the home page? Discard the RSS widget altogether, or leave it there for desktop users only?
Thanks for any thoughts, suggestions, or pointers to useful web pages.

Hi there. The Ideas forum is actually to suggest new features that people want added to WordPress.com, not the place to ask for ideas to fix a problem :)
I think the problem here is that you’re using an older theme that’s not mobile-responsive. With responsive themes, the sidebar widgets are shifted to the bottom of the site on narrow screens, and this is not happening on your site, so that might be the problem.
It could also be that you have the default mobile theme activated, which won’t show all your widgets. Try switching that off and see if it makes any difference: https://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/mobile-themes/ If it only shows your site very small with the widgets in their normal position, then it means you don’t have a responsive theme and will either have to use the default mobile theme without wigdets, or switch to a responsive theme.
If you want to consider trying a different theme, I can recommend Twenty-Eleven. It is very similar to your current theme in the over-all look and feel, but it’s mobile responsive and has more features. You can read more about it here: http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/twentyeleven/
