No site found error

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,

I have created a free blog (yoursconsciously) back in July but did not add any posts. I have tried to access it now, I able to sign in using my email, however, when trying to view the site or write a new post, I get a ‘no site found’ error. Why is that?! :(

Would be grateful if someone can please help me resolve this issue.

    Hi there,

I’ve added ‘modlook’ tag in sidebar for staff assistance. Please be patient, staff will soon help you. Mean while please share the below information:

    1. What was the exact URL of your site? was it yoursconsciously.wordpress.com?
    2. Do you have any other WordPress account? If yes, please try login to that account and check.

    Thanks

    Hi yoursconsciously,

I have created a free blog (yoursconsciously) back in July but did not add any posts.

I’ve looked at your account and there is one site listed — yoursconsciously.co.uk. Is this the site you are referring to? If not, please reply with the full site URL and I’ll see what I can find.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

    Many thanks for your replies!

I have created a wordpress.com account with username @yoursconsciously. I wanted to have the blog to be redirected to the domain name yoursconsciously.co.uk. However, when I try to access the blog to write posts it seems that this site is not found. I just want the URL of the wordpress.com blog and be able to write blog posts.

    Hi yoursconsciously,

when I try to access the blog to write posts it seems that this site is not found.

Thanks, I think I can see the problem:

When I visit yoursconsciously.co.uk the site is unavailable. If the site is unavailable, Jetpack can’t connect to it — which is why yoursconsciously.co.uk isn’t listed in My Sites.

yoursconsciously.co.uk appears to be hosted by GoDaddy so you will need to contact them directly. They should be able to tell you why the site is no longer available.

    Best of luck!

I think there is a slight mixup. I initially tried to create a blog with hosting from SiteGround and my domain name (yoursconsciously.co.uk). However, I decided to cancel my hosting with SiteGround and transfer my domain to GoDayy. Now GoDaddy is asking for the blog URL (xxxxxx.wordpres.com) so that it can be redirected to my domain.
So my question is: what is my blog’s URL? When I look up yoursconsciously.wordpress.com, it seems to not be available. Hope the above makes sense. Please let me know if you have any questions or if you require further explanation.

    Hi yoursconsciously,

So my question is: what is my blog’s URL?

Thanks for that information. Your site was hosted through SiteGround, which means you don’t have a free WordPress.com address like example.wordpress.com — you would only have one if your previous site had been hosted here on WordPress.com.

yoursconsciously.co.uk was connected to your WordPress.com account with the Jetpack plugin but that doesn’t provide you with a free WordPress.com address.

When you pointed the domain away from SiteGround to GoDaddy, SiteGround would have likely assigned your site a temporary URL. If you contact SiteGround, they should be able to give you more information.

    Many thanks for your reply!

I have contacted siteground as advised. However, I was told that unfortunately since my account was cancelled, it was suspended and was excluded from their backup system as it’s been longer than 30 days!

So would it be possible to be assigned yoursconsciously.wordpress.com as the URL for my blog?

    Hi yoursconsciously,

You could try creating a new WordPress.com site using that address. Although GoDaddy asked you for a blog URL, yoursconsciously.wordpress.com will only be useful if you are planning to create a site here on WordPress.com. Do you want to create a site on WordPress.com or would you like to host it through GoDaddy?

If SiteGround no longer have a backup of your content, you may be able to recover some of it from cached search results on Google. But if you are unable to find it there, I’m afraid you may be out of luck.

    Thanks again for your reply!

I am not currently hosting with GoDaddy. I’ve just transferred my domain name over from SiteGround and would like now to have the WordPress blog be redirected to this domain. Would that be possible?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi yoursconsciously,

would like now to have the WordPress blog be redirected to this domain. Would that be possible?

Yes, that would be possible with these steps:

    1. Create a new site here on WordPress.com
    2. Connect the domain, yoursconsciously.co.uk, to your WordPress.com site with domain mapping

Once domain mapping as been fully set up, visitors to your site will see yoursconsciously.co.uk in their browser’s address bar instead of your free WordPress.com address (example.wordpress.com).

I’m happy to answer any questions you have.
