No site shown after transfer

I recently created an account, paid for the minimum tier, started a transfer of my domain from Wix (parishchurches.org) and then did a transfer of the content from Wix to the new WordPress site. Well, this isn’t going very well.

The site info was transferred across in basic form, which was OK. Today (a few days later) I came back to sort out the site layout. The domain transfer has not taken place as yet, but that’s fine. Well, for a start I spent an hour trying to log in. My email address is correct but no emails appear for the password link – but password reset emails appear just fine. The login link emails are not in spam or anywhere else and obviously the email is correct given the reset appears (and it is the same email address that appears in the receipt after I paid and every email I’ve had from WordPress). Eventually I managed to log in using my user name and a password. It’s very bad that a fundamental function does not work. Even worse that “support” requires you to be logged in and no automated answers address this problem.

Having logged in I find that my page says “No results” for my site. What is this? I transferred it all and could clearly see it was there a few days ago, albeit with the menu links and everything else in need of correcting. If I do a search for parishchurches.org it says it is already linked to a WordPress site. So what is going on? Where is my site?

This account you are posting from is 15 years old. Perhaps you need to log out from here and log back in to the recently created account??

OK, that resolves part of the issue – why my site does not appear. Yes, I vaguely recall a million years ago I did have a WP site and it seems I have, by chance, used the username for the old site.

I have looked at the email for the new site and I see there is a temporary username. I tried using that and it, again, just sends me an email that never appears. Either using the (correct) email or the temporary username does not send me an email and I cannot log in. So I still have the same issue.

    Hello, @cbnewham!

As @themagicrobot mentioned, it looks like the issue you were experiencing earlier was due to being logged into your old account instead of the new one you created. If I understand correctly, you are also having trouble logging into your new WordPress.com account, right?

If that’s the case, please feel free to email us at help@wordpress.com from the email address linked to your new account so we can help you regain access.

Looking forward to hearing back from you!
