No stats on new blog?

  • Unknown's avatar

    I started a new wordpress.com blog about six hours ago, and it’s still not registering any views. The stats widget is all there, but no hits – and I know people have been looking at it. That’s at okiyo.wordpress.com.

    The stats on my other blog (circumscribe.wordpress.com), however, are working just fine.

    What’s up? What can I do?

    Thanks!

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    I have had my blog up for a few days now … and no one has checked it according to my stats … how can I get people to find me?

    You’ve started off right: linked your name to your blog. Now do a quick forum search for “readers” and “hits” and related terms and you’ll find more than a thousand tips here on how to increase your reach. And http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com has some really good pointers too.

    From support documentation:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-more-views-and-traffic/

    There is no single best way to increase traffic. There are many approaches but the bottom line is that there is no such thing as passive blog promotion . The reason I’m emphasizing this is because many new bloggers assume that if they blog readers will just happen. (Build a blog and they will come). Well, this is not the case.

    Tips on effective blog promotion:
    (1) Linking your blog to your username is the easiest way of all to leave a bread crumb trail back to your blog. Everywhere you leave a comment readers can click your usrname and arrive on your blog. Therefore, its the best free advertising you can get. It’s very easy to do. Dashboard > Users > Your Profile. Then scroll down to where it says ‘Website‘ and fill in the address of your blog and then click ‘Update Profile‘.

    (2) Other free strategies for blog promotion include choosing an effective blog title and tagline, creating an appealing profile, creating a concise and informative blog description, creating a 140 character “Elevator Speech” for use in social media, and then expand your elevator speech by composing a short paragraph that may be included in a newsletter or perhaps a press release or on a profile page on social networking sites.

    There are several/many blog promotion articles on my blog and I have the welcome mat at the door for you. :)

    @aureliestar
    I can only find 3 posts on the blog linked to your username. In order to create an online presence at the bare minimum we bloggers need to write well, publish regularly, encourage commentingm and reply to every comment receive. Keeping your blog updated with fresh and informative content will maintain reader interest.

    P.S. I also have the welcome mat out for you. :)
