no style sheet in feed

  When viewing the feed from my blog, I notice the message –
  This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. –
  How do I ensure the css sheet is visible to my feed. I have the css upgrade and my blog is using edited css

  What are you using to view the feed? If you are using a browser (IE/FF/Opera) then it will show the basic content of the file and this error is normal.

  The CSS should not be visible in the feed as it is the raw posts/comment data for people to read in a feed reader.

  There’s nothing in the FAQ about the RSS feeds from what I can see but if you google search for RSS Feed information it should turn up some useful results.

  Thanks Collin, I’m testing with a number of methods to view. But I notice that none of them have any design when I read through a feed, they are just text on a white bg. Many blogs I read in Thunderbird maintain the design in the feed – all except mine!

  Ya know, now that you mention it, I get the same thing. I pick up my feed in Thunderbird and it’s plain. I also pick up Lorelle’s feed and that comes through maintaining the formatting. I hadn’t really thought about it and assumed that it was something within Thunderbird!

  Can anyone else help JT/me with this?

  We had this discussing a few months back with someone chewing out me and Mark over the issue because they couldn’t see the formatting. IIRC, the response was you’re not suppose to see the formatting.

  Rather strange that you can see Lorelle’s formatting though. I would if it is a theme issue. We just had this discussion on one of the wp mailing lists about RSD and how feed readers can pick up stuff out of the headers.

  I don’t see her formatting within Bloglines….

  IIRC correctly, there should be an option within Thunderbird to make it use the formatting.

  I can’t install it here and when I search via Google, I get CSS stuff. Afraid you’re going to have to poke around unless someone else comes up with a solution.

  Mike – that’s what I’m thinking. I’m not at home at the minute and won’t be able to check until tomorrow. If I remember I will look and update the thread.
