No taglines in header in “DePo” theme?
-
Would I be correct in concluding that the “DePo” theme does NOT have a tagline option in the header?

I’m not familiar with that theme, but if it doesn’t have a tagline, you could add your own. Try this:
<div style="position: absolute; top: [100px]; left: [100px];"> Your_tagline_here </div>You would need to play with the numbers inside the brackets.
I must tell you, though, that there is a drawback in using this method IF you don’t have the CSS upgrade. This little problem would be that the tagline would stay static and it wouldn’t flow with the layout causing a text overlap if you don’t add the needed “position: relative” property to the wrapper, which you’d do through the CSS upgrade.

I’ve added “tagline” “no tagline” tags to my themes blogs. It should help with questions such as this.
@devblog: if we don’t have CSS upgrade how do we add the code?
-
You mean this code?
<div style="position: absolute; top: [100px]; left: [100px];"> Your_tagline_here </div>You put it in a text widget.

That thing about the Author Box…. It says that if one leaves it blank, the author’s name will show. I left it blank and nothing showed, but in fact I don’t want to put my name there; I want to put a short phrae under the title.
I know zip about html so I will not try any CSS upgrades….

hello, i’m also using the depo masthead theme. i’d like to have nothing appear at the top of the page. if left blank, the Author Box Text fills in the blog author’s name. is there any way to side-step this and actually leave this blank? if so, do i need to buy custom css capabilities? many thanks, maya

hey, tried that, but the grey box still appears at the top of the page (that which the text is usually found in). how to get rid of this?
-
I don’t see any grey box (checked with Firefox, Safari and Flock). Which browser are you using?
-
I don’t see the grey box either.
And in removing the grey box, you do realize that you now have no link back to your home page when someone is on another page do you not? The only way for people to get to your home page after visiting another page or pages is to use their browser back button – possibly repeatedly if they have visited a sequence of pages.
-
hmmm. i’m on firefox, and it’s still there… but i just took a look on safari and it’s not. losing the link back to the home page isn’t a big concert as i have only a few pages and they can all be accessed by the top headings. but definitely good to know. thanks very much, i think it’s because i’m logged in on firefox that the small grey box is visible for my own behind the scenes navigating. thanks for your patience and help, maya

Clear your browser cache and then try again. I looked in FF 3 and don’t see the grey box.
-
But the link back to the home page is the blog TITLE, not the tagline, and the title is there alright.
-
You’re right. I checked the title on the main page and forgot that DePo works like is should and doesn’t link the title when you are on the main page, only when you are on other pages.
Where’s my rock to crawl under?
-
Nah… Given your usually fantastic, detailed and oh-so-patient replies, you’re entitled to one slip!

I’m also using the DePo theme, and I also wanted to use a specific phrase either above or below the main title header. You can use the author box text for this, just as panaghiotisadam says, but it’ll appear up at the top of the page. Good enough for me, as I also know nothing about code or CSS
