No Video – iPhone 4
-
I have an embedded video, of a clip that is hosted on vimeo. Regular browser works fine, but when viewing from the iPhone with Safari, nothing appears. What am I missing. Thanks in advance.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I need coffee too.
There are a few video places that support html5 video tags, which the iphone supports, but I’m not sure which ones, and I’m not sure if that support flows through and into videos posted in blogs here. I haven’t looked. It could be staff will have to tweak the backend stuff for the shortcodes. Speculation on my part.

Actually, the videos once converted into “mobile” ready are not flash and can be seen on the iPhone (paid member), it is how WordPress displays that is the problem. I simple link is a work around, but not ideal.
Thanks.

Hi there,
If you wish to draw Staff attention to the fact that you think it is how WordPress displays that is the problem, then please be aware that Staff are not available until March 2nd, 2011. That’s when you can use this link to forward your suggestion to them. http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/The team is spending a week together to brainstorm various new ways to improve your WordPress.com experience, so we’ve shut down the form for most users until March 1.
Users with paid upgrades will still have access to the [suppot ticket] form, and we’ll be monitoring for new tickets when we can.

I think you are talking about videopress, and not everyone has that. Typically they are talking about videos that have been put into posts or pages using the shortcodes. Those will not show up for iphone users.

I was not trying to draw attention to anyone or anything, simply asking a question, which to me was quite simple and one would think that 24/7 support, although I don’t consider this support but a forum, could provide such an answer, as “thesacredpath” has attempted to provide (Thank you for that and I hope I did not interrupt your brainstorming session, if you are involved in one as well).
Have fun finding out how to make my experience better.

Unfortunately, there’s not much that we can do.
All of our embed methods request both the video and the player from the source, we do not host third-party video players locally.
I have noticed that sometimes Vimeo chooses to serve the Flash player instead of the HTML5 player, it happens on other non-WordPress.com sites as well. I wish there was something that we could do, but there really isn’t.
