No way to photos side by side?
-
It just does not work no matter how many buttons I push. They always, always stack.

Well, looking at the code you’ve set all of those to align centre. When you do that, there can be only one!
<img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-954" src="http://alexwhitmer.files.wordpress.com/2008/07/whitney-samll1.jpg?w=156&h=217" alt="" width="156" height="217" />See?
Try setting them with no alignment at all and seeing what happens. Or align one left, the third right, and no alignment for the middle one.
-
Other options are to use a borderless table or use WordPress’ Gallery feature.
The theme you are using allows a maximum image width of 480 pixels, so the total width of your three images can’t exceed that and I see that they don’t.
-
Tried putting them in without alignment, and you can see what happens. I want two photos side by side aligned in the center. Is this possible? The photos do not exceed the 480 pixels, but absolutely will NOT align center UNLESS I post photos in a page created before the change.
Also, the size of the thumbnails is not the same as before.
Where is this gallery feature?

It used to be you put the first one center, and the rest justify as you add them. Is that no longer an option?

I have never fiddled with this, but I think I would simply had made one image of the two in photoshop before uploading to avoid all the hassle. You never know what browsers will do, and likewise with tables (tables will sort it, though. But again – browsers.).

Sadly I don’t have photo shop, nor can I afford it. How come this was not a browser issue before?

Or stick to the HTML editor and use this (after setting the alignment to none):
<p style="text-align: center;">CompleteCodeOfTheTwoImagesHere</p> -
To select multiple pictures, hold your mouse button down and drag it across the pictures—just as though you are selecting text. It looks confusing because the cursor vanishes but the pictures turn blue to indicate they are selected. Then choose the “center” alignment from the pictograph tools above the editing area.
Pressing shift might work, but I know it doesn’t if you are trying to select 3 pictures: the last picture selected just opens…

There are online editors too. These are two that I’ve tried:
Adobe Photoshop Express https://www.photoshop.com/express/landing.html
rd’s flickr toys, which doesn’t have to be used with flickr http://bighugelabs.com/flickr/and there’s more listed/reviewed here

Good tips. Thank you
Seems I finally got two side by side, but cannot remember exactly what sequence I used. Let’s hope I can do it again.
next issue is the text under the pics jammed together. It was aligned under the respective photos for a while then, slammed together when I tried to do an update, and I cannot get it apart.

<p style=”text-align: center;”>CompleteCodeOfTheTwoImagesHere</p>So, cut and paste it?

Major progress !!!!!!

Photos side by side! Note however the space between them. I cannot seem to change that. And that same space issue is what may be jamming text together ??

Those are great pictures. I haven’t seen them before.
I think the only way to eliminate that space is to knit them together in a graphics program. That isn’t hard to do, but graphics programs can be a bit fiddly to learn. Even MS Paint should be able to do that, though.
