-
Hello, this is my first post!
I’m trying accomplish 1 simple goal:
I’d like my post links (links in posts) to include the NoFollow tag. Does anyone know to get this done?
Thank you in advance,
Matt

Do you have a wordpress.com blog? And, if so, is this question in reference to it? Also if you do have a wordpress.com blog then, are the settings for a “public” or a “private” blog?
-> Options -> Privacy
Privacy Options
Blog visibility:
____I would like my blog to appear in search engines like Google and Sphere, and in public listings around WordPress.com.
____I would like to block search engines, but allow normal visitors
____I would like my blog to be visible only to users I choose(Note the last two options above.)

Yes, the blog is run by WordPress. The blog does appear in search engines and its also getting indexed. I’m just trying to make sure the search engines don’t follow the links that I post in posts. It would help me score.

TimeThief, this is a normal WordPress installation on my own cPanel hosting account. I know this can be done but I don’t know if to look for a plugin, hack the main files or what. I came here asking for help from the WordPress community.

If you installed WP, you are in the wrong forum. That’s what tt is trying to tell you. Head over to http://wordpress.org/support/

OK,
For those who read this one day – This will work for either WordPress.org or WP Install.
Go to your post and edit the code, add rel=”nofollow” to each a href tag.
Easy fix that I just learned of from someone else, can’t believe I didn’t think of this sooner.

I’m not a spammer if that’s what you’re thinking. But I know that most serps don’t like links that redirect you to another website. Thus, I’m adding no follow to the link that will redirect you. Call me crazy?

as long as they are not paid, external links are as good as internal ones (from th POV of the SE).
no need to bother with the ‘nofollow’ attribute at all, unless, of course, you do want this link will be ‘nofollowed’ by the SE on purpose.
