Non-Commercial License
-
I went to gather monthly Stats and found that our site was wrongly classified as Commercial, not allowing me to access stats beyond 7 days unless we pay. We are a public library, not for profit. We don’t have ads, we don’t sell products/services on our site, we don’t promote business. Donations all go to a Friends organization that is a certified non-profit, separate from us. I have tried to verify our non-commercial status but it won’t let me. Please help.

Hello Systems Librarian,
Thank you for reaching out about your site’s classification. I understand your concern about being incorrectly classified as a commercial site. Let’s clarify a few points and guide you through the process.
Your status as a public library certainly aligns with a non-commercial classification. However, there’s an important distinction to note:
Non-profit organizations that solicit donations, sponsorships, dues, or paid memberships on their website must upgrade to a paid or commercial Stats plan. If your site mentions or links to the Friends organization for donations, this could be why you’re currently classified as commercial.
To address this, you have two options:
- Remove any references to donations or the Friends organization from your website. Then follow these steps to request reclassification: a. Go to the WordPress.com My Sites page and select your site. b. Navigate to the Purchase page. c. Click Reverify to initiate the reclassification process. d. You’ll see a message saying, “We are verifying your site. Please come back later…” Note: You can only request this once every 24 hours.
- If you prefer to keep the donation information on your site, you’ll need to upgrade to a paid Stats plan. As a non-profit, you can choose what you want to pay for Jetpack Stats from your purchase page.
Before proceeding with either option, please review your site to ensure it aligns with our commercial Stats status definition.
If you’ve already attempted reclassification and it didn’t resolve the issue, or if you need further clarification, please contact our support team at https://jetpack.com/contact-support/?rel=support. They can provide more detailed assistance tailored to your specific situation.
We’re here to help you find the best solution for your library’s needs.
