*Non-destructive* import of blog *posts* from elsewhere

Is it possibld to import my posts, all my posts, and nothing but my posts from my self-hosted WordPress blog to my WordPress.com blog? If so, may this be done in a non-destructive manner (i.e., leaving the original posts on the host)?
I post this question because I inspected other threads in this forum. They all gave links to instructions for moving in the knowledge base. However I could not detect a *clear* and specific answer to this question, nor could I detect clear and *specific* instructions for what I have asked in the first sentence of this question.

Yes, it is. When you export content from an existing WordPress installation (whether here or a self-hosted one), you are able to choose what content you export. So you can choose to just export your posts — or even just a selection of posts — which you can then import into another WordPress site.

Exporting is essentially just downloading a backup of the content you’ve chosen. So the posts on your existing WordPress.org installation would be unaffected by the export. When you import that exported file into your WordPress.com site, the posts are added to the new WordPress.com site without in any way affecting your original installation.
