(Non-Ignorant Question about) PicLens
-
I know the differences concerning wordpress.com versus wordpress.org (specifically the inability of .com free-blog users to use the plug-in features); however I am desperately trying to use the PicLens feature/software on my own .com free-blog site [geneseorugby.wordpress.com]; now my question is this:
Is there any way I can utilize the software? Use the CSS/RSS feature or something?
(interesting and possibly pertinent sidenote: the example they show on the PicLens site of the utilized software [http://www.piclens.com/lite/wordpress.php, right hand side of page] seems to be on a .com free-blog site – how did they manage that? -
You can embed a PicLens slideshow in posts, pages and the Vod:Pod widget. In order to have the show embedded in pages or posts you need to install the Vod:Pod button. Go to VodPod’s homepage and register a username and your blog. Then install the button.

Well, I’m getting a little short of optimism here. PicLens apparently do not support embed without that plugin install. They don’t offer a url for ordinary embed? Had they done so, Vod:Pod could have grabbed it…

The site says that IE7 and Vista is not yet supported. Oh my! IE8 was released 8. marts in a beta version. PicLens is falling behind…

They have contradictions. This page says no IE7 and no Vista: http://cooliris.com/site/ie/
This page is saying the opposite: http://www.piclens.com/site/ie/
It appears to be different functions. This might be the end of Snap Shots if PicLens gets it’s act together. Really promising features…

the second link you provided is the program i’m trying to use
specifically the wordpress plug-ins which it seems works for both ie and firefox -
Your only chance is the Webmasters Guide combined with a lot of VodPod grabs. Quite a project. :-)
