Non-nested pages – necessary to have a tab in the top bar?

    Hi–

Apologies if this is covered elsewhere. I want to create a page which won’t be listed along the top bar of my blog as a “tab”, but is not a nested page (the “This page has the following sub pages” bit looks ruuuuuubish). I want to create the page and then directly link to it from an image or text from a page in my blog. Is this possible on WP?

    Cheers!

    Owen

    Certainly possible.

Make the page a child of another page. That will hide it from the tab bar.
Then link it from where you need.

Yeah Id just like to add to this that making a page the “child” of another page does not add any “this page has the following sub-pages” bit to any part of your site (well at least not in my theme which is DIGG 3). You can also change the slug as far as Im aware, so that it says yourblog.wordpress.com/mypage, even if truly this page is considered a “child” of another one. So Im not sure if this is what you meant by “nested” but here nesting your page doesnt make it look appear any way different from the parent pages. Hope that helps.

Just an update. Ive checked today to add a page and then change the PERMALINK and I was wrong: the only but you can change is the bit starting from after yourblog.wordpress.com/pageparent/ meaning that making a page the child of another one does make the url for that page a bit longer.

Hi, I’m trying to nest pages off one of my main pages on my blog. I understand the “set as parent” thing, but I was anticipating clicking my parent page and then where all the 1st tier pages were listed, they would disappear when I opened one and all the 2md tier pages would show up in that area. But that is not the case, and I can’t find my 2nd tier page anywhere, other than “manage–>pages–>view this page” (it is published already too, not just a draft save) Am I missing something, as this 2nd tier page doesn’t even show with all the 1st tier or as a link under its parent page?

i am using ocean mist theme, maybe this is a limiter?
