Non-Profit needs monthly activities section
-
I manage the website for the American Women’s Group in Paris. Our current website is http://www.awgparis.org. We are a non-profit and we are changing from Joomla (which I hate) to WordPress (which I am learning via my own blog, kathyinparis.me) which is referenced above. We haven’t brought our AWG WordPress site up yet as it is in the final stages of development.
But we may have hit a roadblock. One of the ways we raise money for our expenses is by offering our members 10-15 activities per month (guided museum tours, local attractions, walks, etc) and charging via PayPal for them. Joomla has a prepackaged “Event” section that takes care of this, but I don’t think WordPress does. Any ideas how I might handle this? I have read conflicting info about WordPress and Paypal. Not being able to use it will be a deal breaker.
The Activities change on a monthly basis so I am hoping for the simplest solution.
Thanks, Kathy

Hello there,
Free hosted WordPress.com blogs cannot be equipped for e-commerce. We have no FTP access and cannot install plugins.
What we can use is
an unencrypted PayPal donation button
and/ or a contact formThere are no e-commerce restictions on WordPress.org installs.
WordPress.com vs WordPress.org: The Differences
Have you considered hiring a web host and setting up a WordPress.org install? -
We have a web host for our current site, and they will be posting our new WordPress site. Does that solve our problem?
If so, any suggestions how to create an Activities section that can be populated with 10-15 activities each month?
BTW thanks for the quick turnaround!

Yes, but please note that support for self-hosted installs of WordPress is given at http://wordpress.org/support/
