Non-profit organisation pricing

Hello, do you have a plan specifically for non-profit organisations or charities similar to how Canva and others operate. I really need a Business plan but the organisation cannot fund this.
    Thank you,
    John

  • Hi @pfauser, we don’t currently have special pricing for non-profits, but we could help you pick the most affordable plan for your site. Sometimes when people need the Business Plan, they have a specific plugin or functionality in mind that we have built into our services and could support with Premium. If you let us know what you have in mind for your site, we can advise.

    Hi,

OK – that’s a shame and it’s something many others do. You should consider this going forwards.

Initially, I simply want to be able to put the site (that’s now live) into maintenance mode. As I can’t use plugins, I wondered what the best and safest approach would be.

    Thank you,

    John

  • Hi there, @pfauser!

    Thanks for your feedback.

We do have a lot of features that are available on all of our plans. Maybe we can look at what you are looking to build and see if that can be accomplished on one of our other plans? I would be happy to take a look.

If interested, could you tell me a bit more about your site? Are there any specific competitors or websites in your industry that you admire or want to emulate? What specific features or functionalities would you like to have on your website?

If you are sure the Business plan is right for you, I did want to mention that we do offer monthly billing. Let me know if you are interested in that. The monthly Business plan is £32.00/month.

    Hi,

This doesn’t answer my question. I CANNOT use a business plan as the charity cannot fund it. I know how much the business plan costs. I DO want to use plugins, but know that I can’t because of your unfriendly (to non-profits) pricing model.

Please – how can I put the site into maintenance mode – simple question. Can I do it or not, and if “yes” how?

    Thank you,

    John

  • Hi, @pfauser!

I was just trying to share the available options here at WordPress.com. I didn’t mean to ignore your question.

To clarify, plugins can only be used on the Business plan at WordPress.com.

Since you said this is not an option, you might consider another solution like WordPress.org. This does require you to purchase hosting elsewhere and then install WordPress and set up your site.

There are two versions of WordPress – WordPress.com and WordPress.org.

WordPress.com is a hosted version of WordPress where we take care of your website’s security, updates and maintenance while you can focus on your content. At WordPress.com, the installation of plugins and themes is allowed only with a Business and Ecommerce plan subscription. However, we have lots of built-in plugins and a variety of themes to choose from.

On the other hand, WordPress.org websites are self-hosted and require that you purchase your space on the web with a hosting company and you are the one who needs to take care of the website’s security, updates and maintenance. WordPress.org allows you to install custom plugins and themes.

More details on the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org you can find in the link below:

You could set up a local WordPress site.

Please note that we only offer support for WordPress.com hosted sites.

Thank you for that update. The last option of setting up a local site could/would work but without FTP access I can’t see how I could re-upload an locally edited site to the live hosted site.

Don’t worry about a reply. I’ll investigate elsewhere.
