Non-Profit with a Donation button – what plan is best?

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m needing to start a non-profit website for a client with a donation button. Do I need to set them up on the business plan? It just seems rather expensive for a brand new start up organization. Is there not another way to do this without incurring the large cost with the business plan?

    Much appreciative of any help!

The only choice you have on a WordPress.COM hosted blog is a PayPal donation button. You cannot use the code provided by PayPal on a WordPress.COM blog. The only instructions that will work for posting a PayPal donation button on a WordPress.com blog are found here http://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/

To answer your question, you don’t need ANY upgrades to use crowdfunding or a donation button. The only issue is that some crowdfunding sites use flash, iframe, or javascript code that cannot be used here, and then you have to replace their widget code with a hand-written text widget with a static image and text and link.

    You guys are awesome!

Thank you for responding so fast. I’ll have to look at the PayPal donation button.

raincoaster – the crowdfunding is a good option but since the site isn’t really trying to gain a specific amount of money nor do they have a goal, I wasn’t really sure or comfortable pushing that option. It’s more of a fitness and education place that is mainly for and geared toward veterans/ low socioeconomic persons that is just looking for donations to help keep costs low.

Again, I really appreciate the fast and quick help!
