Nonbreaking spaces being inserted in text
-
I’ve been having trouble with nonbreaking spaces being inserted into my text, causing premature line breaks when the nbsp appears near the end of a line, either in the editor or in the published post. I brought it up in the topic linked below, thinking it was related to my theme. It was determined not to be. I was asked that if I could find a pattern, to share it here.

I’ve discovered two scenarios when nonbreaking spaces are inserted into the text.
1. When copying and pasting text from elsewhere in the post. This screencast demonstrates. I used the classic editor for this one. It includes me deleting the space in HTML view and typing a fresh space to correct the problem.

2. While typing, but after using bold or italics. This screencast illustrates. I used the new editor for this one to suggest that this problem is not related to the editor. It also shows me working around the problem in HTML view.

I’m using latest Chrome on Windows 7.

I have experienced the same problem which appears to be associated with the change over to the Google app for editing.
Text composed on a WP and brought in as .RTF is no longer handled properly as was the case in the past. The result is that lines are frequently too long and are either truncated or there are breaks in mid word.
There is no problem for text entered directly into the edit.
Please can we go back to the old Editor I know it was slow but it worked!!

Found a solution to the problem with text imported from the WP!
It is to switch to the Paste as Text mode which is on the second line of the toolbar when in Edit mode.
This line is normally hidden but can be displayed by using the Tool Bar Toggle at the right hand end of the standard toolbar. -
Hi @jimgrey, it looked to me like there was a space after “attracting attention. ” even before you pasted the other line there.
On the other editor, I did confirm that it would seem a space seems to appear after switching out of italics, but it doesn’t actually appear in the text that is saved. Can you confirm that as well?

I created another scenario where I pasted text at the end of a paragraph where there was not a space already after the period, and got the same behavior.

I saved and previewed this post and this behavior carried over into the preview.

I also created another scenario where I typed “read ” in italics followed by other text, got this behavior, saved, viewed, and got this behavior in the preview.

I used the classic editor for all of this because I prefer it for its larger edit window, but I don’t think this behavior is related to the editor at all and is created by something else common to both editors. I do most of my creation with the classic editor and my editing with the new editor and see this in both.
