none of my social media links actually connect to their url

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m trying to link my instagram, square, and facebook pages to my website. However, even though the buttons show, and the url is included, when a user clicks on the link, it stalls the page. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m sending users through a third party domain, or if the template I’m using in wordpress is not working correctly. Anybody have suggestions?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Your current social media links in the footer are working from your site for me. Hope it was just a temporary glitch. Is it working for you and your users now?

    Hi there,
the links work just fine when viewing the website through the wordpress portal. The actual domain is flatbedcoffee.com, and it’s when viewing the website and links from here that the links do not seem to path properly to their url.

Ah, I see now. Looks like you are in a heady atmosphere of iframe and iframe links. It looks like the page you are referring to is using an iframe to pull in some content from your WordPress.com site. But the links in that “framed” WordPress.com site are not working if they go outside the WordPress.com environment.

As such it is probably not a WordPress.com situation since your WordPress.com content works fine in “our” environment. I suspect it might have to do with trying to deliver mixed http and https content and there are quite a few discussions online about broken links in iframe.

The WordPress.com forums are really designed to support our rather cloistered environment within the WordPress.com environment. There is a forum supporting the version of WordPress in the outside world. And therefore people who have more knowledge and experience relating to iframe.

You might want to reach out to the WordPress.org community.

That being said, I am just a user like you. If you would like to get the attention of WordPress.com staff for your question, type modlook in the tag box to the right of this page and click add. That will bring this to the attention of someone who knows much more than I do.

Thanks for your input. I suspected something was happening between the domain and wordpress. My knowledge of websites is very limited but I might dig around in the wordpress.com vs wordpress.org realm to see if it’s worth it to convert. Appreciate your help
