nonexistent blog

I created the blog site photofit at markholtshannon.com. When I log into my dashboard, it isn’t there. What is there are two blogs that I have been involved with. Even here above when it asked me to select the blog I want help with, the site that I thought I had created doesn’t show up.

  • The issue is that the WordPress.com user account that you are posting from is not the owner or admin of markholtshannon.com.

So you must have ended up with a second WordPress.com account at some point. You will need to log into the other account in order to access the markholtshannon.com dashboard.

  • If you have lost or cannot remember the login information for a WordPress.com account, your best bet is to try the account recovery process here:

    https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery

Due to the private nature of information required for account recovery and the public nature of these forums, we cannot help with account recovery here.

won’t let me recover because i don’t have the requested information. meaning no activation or url key or transaction id. my bank statement shows the 18 dollar withdrawl on 9/5/15 but did not include any id numbers. i received no email from wordpress other than email activation email. i have had a wordpress account in the past but but mostly i was just an author. but it is these sites that the dashboard shows when i log in. have changed my password 5 times, no difference. i’m probably using the same email address and username as the other “free” account that i have. this new one i went ahead and bought the markholtshannon.com domain.

  • i’m probably using the same email address and username as the other “free” account that i have.

Email addresses cannot be connected to multiple WordPress.com accounts. So this wouldn’t be possible.

I would encourage you to try and recover passwords using other email addresses that you might have had in the past.

  • This site can also be helpful in tracking down charges and which accounts they are connected to:

    Why was I charged?

Thanks. What’s weird is that when I went to wpchrg they didn’t even recognize the 18 dollar charge on my account from 9/5/15. Even though it is on my bank statement.

Isn’t there a way to just wipe out my accounts and start again?

and another thing. if i can’t have two email addresses associated with the account, then they wouldn’t have let me use my current .mac email address to register if I had used it when I signed up in 2010. it’s almost like i got part of the way through the process but not all the way.

went through hostgator, quick install, received congratulations email saying quick install successfully installed wordpress. gave me my url for site and admin. never received anything directly from wordpress other than an email confirmation email.

This would indicate that you have a self-hosted WordPress.org site, not (or at least in addition to) a WordPress.com site.

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

You would not have a host or do an install with WordPress.com. Only with a self-hosted WordPress.org site.

  • Also, that would explain why you were able to have two WordPress accounts with the same email. A WordPress.com account and an account on your self-hosted site.

  • Just to confirm, are you working on markholtshannon.com ? This domain is pointed at our servers, but there’s no content there.

It looks like markholtshannon.com was at Bluehost some time ago. Did you create the site there?
