noob changing url to .co.nz

  Help. I have a .co.nz domain registered and can’t figure out how to make it my wordpress url.

  Have changed the name servers already.

  See the domain mapping help. It takes a while for the nameserver change to propogate through the web (up to 72 hours) so it could be that you jsut have to wait,

  If you tell us your .co.nz url we can check, or you can do it yourself at “What’s My DNS?“.

  Did you have a zone record added for your mapped domain?

  If no the Staff needs the blog name and mapped name to add a zone record for you so the mapping will work.

  I’ve only just registered the url. So do you mean that if nothing is happening in a few days then I should start asking questions?

  I tried changing the domain name through Settings and the alert came up
  ‘WordPress.com can only register domains ending in “.com”, “.net”, or “.org”.’

  Are zone records for generic .co.nz urls or for my specific url?

  I did warn you I was a noob.

  As auxclass said, staff must add a zone record and for that, you need to say what your domain name (the .co.nz) is. Otherwise, neither we nor staff can help you.

  If you haven’t registered a .co.nz domain name yet, you have to do that separately through a domain name registrar. I can’t help you with that either because i am not familiar with registrars in New Zealand.

  domain name is

  Just registered in the last 12 hours or so.

  Is that a second blog? You cannot map two domains to the same blog.

  What you can do is set up a redirect at your domain registrar I believe and have it redirect to jandalsareforfeet.co.nz.

  @anacoffey: I have created a zone record for your domain anacoffey.co.nz as you have requested, so you can go ahead and change nameservers again.

  I also wanted to give you more information about mapping multiple custom domains to your WordPress.com – it is possible to map more than one, like you in your case, you may want to map both jandalsareforfeet.co.nz and anacoffey.co.nz to anacoffey.wordpress.com.

  Then all domains mapped that way will point to the primary domain as set in Upgrades > Domains (you can always change which domain is the primary one). The advantage of mapping domains through WordPress.com is that we will inform search engines which domain is the canonical one, and that all references should use it.
