NOOB needs help.

I’m a computer idiot and I’m in over my head.
First, I wanted a website. So I went to godaddy and registered a domain name, http://www.stewartcustom.com.
Then, i found out that I needed to use a web design host for developing my website. So I purchased a wordpress account through godaddy.
So I’m $50 poorer and no closer to a website than I was before. I’m totally frustrated because I don’t know how to design my website and I don’t know how to merge the wordpress stuff with my godaddy domain. I can’t even figure out how to use the templates, if I download one it just puts a whole buch of files on my hard drive that I don’t know what to do with.
Someone please give me some direction!

First would you please explain what you want to do with your web site – there is a chance that you could host here which would be easier than learning how to be a webmaster – but there are Terms of service that you need to abide by if you are going to have a site here:
http://en.wordpress.com/tos/
http://wordpress.com/types-of-blogs/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/advertising/It is possible to map your new name to a blog here but the TOS gets some people in trouble.
Is this a general purpose blog, what I had for lunch, my advice to others or are you going to sell stuff and get rich quick?

PS – there are two different flavors of “WordPress” – you are partway along the path of a WordPress.ORG install
This site is for support of sites hosted on WordPress.COM. You should address your questions to WordPress.ORG the keepers of the software you are using: http://wordpress.org/support/

I am starting a gunsmithing business and I want to use the blog as a means for customers to find me and contact me. It will also be a place to showcase some of my projects. I may eventually use it for e-commerce.
I already have the domain name. All I want to do now is devlop a webpage from a template and publish it to my domain. I don’t know why, but I’m really having a hard time with it!!!

<blockquote. All I want to do now is devlop a webpage from a template and publish it to my domain. That’s not possible here at WordPress.com. For more on the difference: http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Based on the information you have provided I recommend I do agree with auxclass. IMO you need to hire a web host and set up a WordPress.ORG install to achieve your aims.

Here you are limited to about 120++ Themes or Templates. About 20,000,000 blogs have found this not to be a problem.
There are advantages to both .ORG and.COM versions of WordPress, here at .COM many things are easier, over at .ORG you have more flexibility but it is more difficult and you will need to learn more about being a webmaster or hire someone to do the work for you.
Either way – good luck
