Norton

I’ve just had my site ‘hacked’ by Norton. Not paying attention, I must have hit the wrong answer to a security certificate question, I now have a huge tech page of things I’m supposed to do as ‘the owner’ to make my site safe? WTF?? I am sure if I had time to read though all their rubbish there would be a request for money, but in the meantime, my site is blocked. Help!! (Please) This is the place they sent me to: http://54.200.58.62/?nxdomain=https%3A%2F%2Fitshelsbels.wordpress.com%2F&msgID1=13&msgID2=-1&AddInType=2&PlatformInfo=DNSA&Version=3.0.5&blockedDomain=

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi!

Just to clarify, your site is only blocked on your computer due to Norton; it’s available for everyone else. Still frustrating, but I just wanted to reassure you that your readers can view your site!

For Norton, we’ll likely need to set some kind of exception for your specific web address. I don’t have a copy of Norton installed, but it looks as though there’s an exclusion page under settings per this thread (old but perhaps still relevant):

In the settings for Norton, do you find anything that would allow you to set an exception for itshelsbels.wordpress.com?

Hi and thanks for the reply. I did respond the other day but that got lost somewhere! I don’t have Norton installed as I run a Mac, so I can’t see where I can set an exception. I cant even see it under Safari. Good news that it’s only me taht’s lost access. Is there a way I can send my enquiry to WordPress. The FAQ / help site sent me via the public forum option but this MUST be something they have come across before? Cheers Helen

Thanks for the additional information! A few follow-up questions:

    1. Is this only happening on certain WiFi connections?

    2. Can you try downloading another browser to see if your site works in Chrome/Firefox?

    3. Do you have any plugins installed in Safari? You can check under Safari -> Preferences -> Extensions.

This is the support forum for WordPress.com (I’m a staff member).
