Not A Single Theme on WordPress.com Has…
-
1. A link/badge/whatever that allows people to easily find and add the RSS feed.
2. Shows the tagline associated with a blog (why write it if it won’t be displayed).
3. Isn’t adorned with some kind of art or other pictures that make it appropriate for all topics
4. Uses the full width of the screen.Nevermind having all of the above and a choice of colors.
-
1. Meta widget has comment and post RSS feed links in it. RSS links can easily be added to a text widget and there is a large variety of icon sized and colors: http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/10/23/put-your-feed-in-your-sidebar/
2. Many themes show a tag line. Andreas04, Andreas09, Mistylook, chaotic soul and more than I’m going to list here. Use the theme preview function (click on a theme at design > themes to preview).
3. Many themes have customizable header and you can upload any image you want. Andreas09 has many colors you can choose from.
4. 9 Flexible width themes: http://opposablethumbz.wordpress.com/wp-admin/themes.php?tag=flexible-width#themenav
I feel like a baby sitter, sheesh!
-
1. Some themes do have this
2. Um many themes do have this.
3. What? You can change the pic in some of the headers, some you can’t but some you can.
4. I think they are designed to be at a 15 inch only as not everyone has widescreen (like me :D )Diff Colors? I think that can be achieved with the css upgrade.
Look around the themes, they do actually have a lot of variations and choices :)
Cheers!

I have a frickin’ 23″ monitor and with Andreas09, I can have my blog from side-to-side of it.

You can add custom header of your choice to all the themes listed in this FAQ: http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/07/08/which-themes-can-i-add-a-header-image-to/

@dissfunktional, cheese would be nice. I’ll trade you some wine for the cheese.
@rain, a bottle on the way for you.
@ella, you want a bottle?
-
you got it babe; Merlot is my favorite.
I see one more bitch thread and I hope to goodness I’m in a good mood.

I just ran the forums through the cuss-o-meter. This is the result:
Around 0.3% of the pages on your website contain cussing.
This is 97% LESS than other websites who took this test. We’re a rather controlled bunch!

Maybe I should introduce the concept of the FNFF: http://gawker.com/tag/fuckfest/
Every Friday, people gather together on the site with their buddies and their bottles and away they go. So, it’s drinking alone, so you don’t have to be presentable, but drinking among friends, so it’s not pathetic. It would certainly liven up the support forum on major upgrade Friday nights.

agreed with above.
I use misty look theme and it has RSS buttons on the top right by default.
a number of themes are flexible width.
My tagline is showing fine. -

Rather than go point by point, I’ll just reply to the general replies…
1. I’m in favor of alcohol in general, my favorite part of this thread is that it promoted further usage of it. :)
2. Andreas09 is one I missed, and does indeed show the tagline and has some other nice features, but it’s also fugly (IMHO) when I preview it. Why should I have to change the theme to know what I can then do to that theme? It’s silly.
3. I know many themes has the features I was talking about… none, seemingly with the exception of Andreas09, although it is heavily stylized, have all. Oh, and a search bar.
4. The browser RSS buttons are EXACTLY what I want to avoid. I HATE those… why not be able to have an RSS link right on your blog? What if people aren’t using standard browsers? Etc. This isn’t asking much. The widget people mentioned hasn’t worked for me in the past, but it’s behavior is different for each theme.
5. Header images is beyond the point. I’m no graphic artist, why do I want to mess around with images? Maybe there’s some hack where I can make a small square that’s solid and it’ll stretch it out to make it a solid header, but comon… hardly user friendly! And you need to make the image, change the theme, etc. just to see if that works. If people are reading regularly, do you want the site changing it’s look and feel while you are messing with all this? No. If it’s not on the preview, why assume you can do it later?Oh, and the custom CSS shouldn’t be necessary…
Basically, the theme selections here are *SO* minimal as to make it hard to find a theme that has the capabilities you need based on the preview. This should be remedied. 10 pages of themes (2x the current) would be EXTREMELY manageable and would probably go a long way to helping the situation.

How would having more themes help you to see which theme has your required capabilities? Surely it would just mean having more pages to trawl through before you get to the one you want?
